POSITION SUMMARY
Performs routine and complex Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) procedures at a technical level that will produce high quality images consistent with established policies and procedures at a technical level typically requiring general supervision.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Specializes in performing routine and complex MRI procedures.
• Obtains patient history, explains standard procedures, and addresses patient concerns to foster a sense of comfort and confidence to patients and ensure the needs of individual patients are met.
• Operates and maintains all assigned MRI equipment to ensure it works properly.
• Positions patients and utilizes equipment in order to correctly capture the images requested by a physician.
• Properly identifies, prepares and/or administers medications that are within the technologist’s scope of practice as prescribed by a licensed independent practitioner.
• Maintains all required documentation, logs, charts, forms and records in paper and electronic formats.
• Maintains an adequate supply of all consumables to perform quality testing.
• Performs all routine daily, weekly, monthly, and periodic maintenance and function checks following established protocol for all imaging equipment.
• May assist other areas of radiology as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
• Successful completion of a two year accredited Radiology program, or completion of a MRI specific program providing necessary skills to obtain advanced AART MRI certification.
• BLS certification required. Certification must be issued directly by the American Heart Association (AHA), American Red Cross (ARC), or Canadian equivalent.
QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED
• Associate degree in radiology.
• Advanced ARRT Certification in Magnetic Resonance Imaging.
