Position Description:
The Clinic Pre-encounter Representative performs outpatient and inpatient scheduling, pre-registration, registration, and insurance verification functions as well as obtains prior treatment authorizations and provides financial counseling assistance as needed. This role ensures that patients meet financial requirements and provides financial guidance and assists patients and community members in navigating the Marketplace. Provides excellent patient focused customer service. Communicates effectively to service delivery areas to maximize patient flow and customer service.

Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the public.
Excellent customer service skills.
Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Additional languages are preferred.
Basic computer skills, including ability to navigate electronic medical record systems.
Subject to frequent interruptions.
Knowledge of medical terminology
Detail oriented
May work beyond normal working hours and on weekends holidays when necessary.
Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening.
QualificationsEducation/Experience:
High School diploma or equivalent.
One to three (1-3) years' experience in healthcare scheduling, authorization, customer service or financial counseling.
Knowledge of medical terminology
Basic computer knowledge, data entry and/or word processing.
Licenses/Certifications:
Certified Application Counselor certification to be obtained within six months of employment and retained throughout employment in this role.
