About this role

The Divisional Quality Systems (DQS) Manager is a proactive leader who works under the guidance of Mauser Packaging Solutions corporate policies and procedures.  The DQS Manager’s strategic focus is ensuring Divisional compliance with these policies and procedures.  Additionally, this position will collaborate with the plants to ensure continuous improvement in product quality, employee safety and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure divisional compliance to current policies and procedures
  • Provide direction and leadership to plant and Regional SHEQs (Safety Health Environment Quality) as their direct Manager
  • Liaise with Corporate EHS team to foster development and implementation of corporate based Safety and Environmental based initiatives.
  • Collaborate with divisional and plant leadership in the development of divisional level quality policies and requirements
  • Oversee and ensure all internal safety and quality audit programs are in place and operational
  • Partner with plant teams to develop new procedural documents and modify existing documents when required
  • Ensure all required quality and performance related product testing is completed in the plants to ensure compliance with DOT regulations regarding transport of hazardous materials
  • Maintain Quality System in accordance with ISO 9001 requirements
  • Ensure compliance with Food Safety certification requirements at approved plants
  • Attend all customer and 3rd party audits as Divisional Management representative
  • Visit the customer as required for non-conformance investigation and/or Sales support
  • Support root cause analysis and problem solving activities to assist in the development of corrective action; review completed 8Ds for completeness and accuracy
  • Maintain Salesforce entries as applicable
  • Ensure Management reviews are conducted as required at each site
  • Maintain PFMEA & Control Plan; update when required
  • Support procurement in qualification of new vendors and vendor audits
  • Support Plants/Engineering in new mold qualifications and start-ups
  • Maintain weekly Quality/Safety Division meeting; tracking customer complaints, safety issues, corrective actions and required training
  • Maintain FORE log for review weekly
  • Support Commercial Team as Technical resource for Division

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor degree in related discipline and/or 10 years of experience in a Quality related role in a high volume manufacturing operation
  • Minimum of 5 years of safety experience in a high volume manufacturing operation
  • Strong knowledge of Quality Systems, ISO Requirements, Food Safety experience a significant plus
  • Strong analytical, computational, and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated use of problem solving tools…8D, 5Y, fishbone, etc.
  • Strong PC skills; Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Project)
  • Strong team player / ability to build collaborative relationships
  • Excellent communication skills; ability to lead Divisional meetings and present information
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to be on feet up to 8 hours per day.
  • Ability to lift 35 lbs.
  • Ability to stand, crouch and climb to perform duties
  • While performing the duties of this job, the individual is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud
  • The work environment can be very hot, over 90 degrees.
  • Vision: 20/20 corrected and normal hearing range
