Job Summary

The QC Lead is independent of construction personnel. The QC Lead advises and supports Project Manager and the Project team in the implementation of the Construction Quality Management Program and resolution of construction relevant quality issues. He /She shall act to ensure compliance with the project standards and specify requirements for all disciplines.  The QC Lead aligns through the Quality organization and is allocated to the Project Manager during his/her assignment on the project. The QC Lead reports to the Quality Manager.


Responsibilities

  • Ensure that quality plans are implemented and executed for projects.
  • Support Quality Manager in terms of quality-relevant matters regarding coordination and surveillance of work.
  • Carry out internal pre-inspection and pre-activity meetings and participate in kick-off meetings and pre-activity meeting with contractors, clients and third-party inspectors on site.
  • Verify sub-contractor's personnel qualification (e.g. non-destructive testing, concrete testing, surveying) are current prior to construction activities.
  • Verify compliance of project- and code-specific requirement documents (e.g. quality plans, ITPs, procedures, etc.) for all disciplines, internally as well as subcontracted.
  • Act as the contact person for clients and sub-contractors in quality matters.
  • Communicate quality matters of the craft, client and sub-contractors to the Project Manager.
  • Participate in regular meetings with the project team, contractors and clients.
  • Coordinate with Quality personnel of the client and subcontractor, and third-party inspection and testing.
  • Monitor, witness, and report the execution of inspections and testing according to project specific requirements defined in quality plans and participate in inspections and testing with subcontractors, and clients. Review, comment, and validate completed quality documents of the craft and subcontractors for compliance to requirements.
  • Verify calibration of measuring and testing equipment.
  • Prepare project-specific quality plans, procedures and inspection forms in individual cases.
  • Prepare and issue the daily quality inspection reports.
  • Verify availability and correctness of material test report for material and equipment as specified by contract.
  • Monitor receiving of incoming materials and equipment for noncompliance and/or damage.
  • Manage, track and store quality related documents as required for final documentation turnover.
  • Verify and report completion of corrective action for closure of nonconformance.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Ensure that requirements are understood prior to construction activities.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment on multiple projects.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask and manage time effectively in order to meet deadlines.
  • Self-starter and able to work in a team atmosphere.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to work within a physically demanding work environment including extended periods of standing and walking, frequent sitting, kneeling, bending, crouching, reaching, stopping and climbing.
  • Work will be preformed in both indoor and outdoor environments in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.

Education and/or Work Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience in the electrical high voltage transmission and substation industry.
  • 5+ years of experience in construction quality management preferred.
  • Experience monitoring and assure compliance contractual requirements.
