Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and self-motivated individual to serve as a Streetlight Repair Technician, operating independently as a single-man crew. This role is responsible for performing field repairs on streetlighting infrastructure, including the placement and connection of electrical cables, troubleshooting outages, and maintaining safety and quality standards. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills, the ability to manage all aspects of job execution solo, and a commitment to safety and professionalism.


Responsibilities

  • Commitment to safety.
  • Perform troubleshooting, maintenance, and repairs of streetlight systems and associated equipment.
  • Safely operate and maneuver a digger derrick and/or bucket truck to access and repair overhead infrastructure.
  • Set poles, run cable, connect wires, and install related hardware per system specifications.
  • Ensure all necessary materials, tools, and equipment are secured and transported to the job site.
  • Verify and comply with all safety requirements, company policies, and county/city requirements.
  • Accurately document completed work, job site conditions, and materials used.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatches, supervisors, and customers as needed to report progress, issues, and resolutions.
  • Follow all applicable safety regulations and company/customer-specific protocols.

Qualifications

Minimum

  • High school diploma, or equivalent.
  • 2 years of experience. 
  • Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is required.
  • Digger Derrick certification is required.
  • Experience setting up 45 Ft. concrete poles is required.

Preferred

  • 5 or more years of experience, including extensive experience supervising and training skilled labor.

Physical Demands and Work Environment 

This job operates in a field environment. This role routinely requires extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, lifting in awkward positions, standing, and twisting. Also, working in inclement weather conditions, such as extreme heat, extreme cold, rain, ice, snow, and wind.  

 

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. This position is physically active, with lifting required. Must be able to bend and lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Clarity of vision at 20 feet or more or 20 inches or less, with the ability to judge distance and space relationships. Precise hand-eye coordination. Ability to identify and distinguish colors.
