Summary:

 

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Engineering Intern will learn the functions and processes of Martin Marietta’s Salisbury Shop. As the only crusher repair facility for the Martin Marietta Corporation, Salisbury Shop offers a variety of experiences that will include, design, detailing, fabrication oversite, testing oversite, and final project delivery. Other learned experiences include CNC machining processes, CNC cutting processes, Welding, and machine assembly/disassembly methods.

 

Intern Responsibilities:

 

  • Must be safety conscious, dependable, and motivated.
  • Will take an active role in the company’s safety initiatives.
  • Must be a self-motivated, strong work ethic individual that is willing to work with minimal supervision.
  • Will learn to use micrometers, calipers, and vision measuring systems.
  • Using Solidworks, Autodesk Advance Steel, and AutoCAD, will assist others with design and detailing requirements as needed.

Qualifications and skills:

 

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering
  • High-level verbal and written communication skills
  • Solidworks or Autodesk Advance Steel Experience Required
  • Ability to work in an office or shop environment where sitting, standing, kneeling, or bending for long periods of time may be required.
  • Ability to wear PPE while on the shop floor (Safety Glasses, Safety Toe Shoes, Hardhats, Earplugs, High-Viz Vest or Shirts, other as required)
