Job Title: Grocery Truck Associate

Job Purpose:

The Grocery Truck Associate is responsible for assisting in the unloading of trucks, ensuring the accurate and efficient handling of goods, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment. This role requires working in various weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, and snow. The Associate must be physically fit, detail-oriented, and capable of handling heavy lifting and prolonged periods of standing and moving. The Grocery Truck Associate will contribute to the safe and efficient operation of our logistics and warehouse functions, ensuring the well-being of all team members and the successful delivery of goods to our customers.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Normal Responsibilities

  • Observe shift operating hours at all times, as assigned by the Supervisor.
  • Ensure the Supervisor is made aware of all maintenance, safety, or order/product discrepancies.
  • Provide outstanding customer service during delivery and pickup operations.
  • Advise the Supervisor of any personnel situations or policy violations having an adverse effect on warehouse operating performance.
  • Safely and efficiently unload goods from trucks, ensuring careful handling to prevent damage.
  • Perform duties in various weather conditions; wear appropriate gear and take necessary precautions to stay safe and productive.
  • Inspect incoming goods for damage and discrepancies, reporting any issues to the supervisor.
  • Accurately complete required paperwork, including delivery receipts and inventory logs.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies, particularly regarding working in different weather conditions.
  • Work closely with other warehouse staff and truck drivers to ensure efficient unloading processes.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring that all unloading zones are free from hazards.
  • Perform specific tasks as assigned by the Supervisor.

 

Security/Safety

  • Follow company policy regarding limited access areas and security doors.
  • Share responsibility for controlling the inventory.
  • Make management aware of any safety issues.
  • Maintain and protect company assets in excellent condition at all times.
  • Wear a seatbelt at all times while operating company-owned or leased trucks.
  • Wear/use any company-provided protective safety equipment/apparel.
  • Report all accidents, no matter how small.
  • Regularly check weather forecasts and road conditions.
  • Adjust routes based on weather reports to ensure safety and efficiency.
  • Maintain all required certifications required by DOT, OSHA, and company safety programs.

 

Requirements

  • Must have adequate communication skills to serve customer and store needs.
  • Ability to make overnight runs as required by shipping needs.
  • Be able to speak, hear, read, understand, and write the English language at the eighth-grade level.
  • Be able to read and understand instructions for operating equipment.
  • Be able to lift up to 60 pounds, carrying and moving cases of product.
  • Be able to react to a fire by lifting a fire extinguisher weighing 10 pounds and moving it to the fire area.
  • Must be able to work in severe weather conditions, both heat and cold.
  • Meet physical and drug screening requirements.

  • Both roles must maintain clear communication to ensure smooth unloading processes and address any issues promptly.

  • Coordinating efforts to unload and organize goods efficiently.
  • Supporting each other in meeting delivery deadlines and handling any unexpected challenges.

 

Safety:

  • Working together to follow safety protocols and prevent accidents or injuries during the unloading process.
