JOB SUMMARY

The Respiratory Therapist supports the Marshfield Clinic Health System (MCHS) in delivering inpatient and outpatient respiratory therapy services to patients from neonatal to geriatric, under the direction of physicians and administration. In this role, the individual is accountable to deliver established goals, utilizes good judgment to assess and escalate situations when warranted and utilizes knowledge and skills in the area of expertise while maintaining expected quality standards. The individual must act as a healthcare leader by building constructive relationships and by supporting department leadership in developing, setting and executing department goals and the strategic plan in accordance with Marshfield Clinic Health System’s mission statement.

WORK SHIFT

Variable; day/night shift rotation to include a weekend & holiday rotation or option for a straight day shift weekend schedule w/ holiday rotation.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation.

Minimum Required: Diploma or Associate degree in respiratory therapy.

Preferred/Optional: None

EXPERIENCE 

Minimum Required: Experience working with mechanical ventilation of patients from neonatal to geriatric.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES 

The following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position.  Licenses with restrictions are subject to review to determine if restrictions are substantially related to the position.

Minimum Required:

  • Respiratory Care Practitioner license awarded by the State of Wisconsin.
  • Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) awarded by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential within one year of hire awarded by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) and maintain the active credential per NBRC guidelines. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) within three months of hire.
  • For positions treating patients in intensive care units (ICU):
    • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications awarded by the American Heart Association within one year of hire.

Preferred/Optional: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) at time of hire.  Certified Pulmonary Function Technician (CPFT) and Registered Pulmonary Function Technician (RPFT) awarded by the National Board for Respiratory Care at time of hire.
