Please note that the Rice Lake Ambulance team has an onsite station dog.

JOB SUMMARY

The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT - Advanced), Critical Care Transport assumes responsibility for individual professional actions and judgments, during both independent and dependent emergency functions. This individual functions independently while applying the skills of the certified EMT in an ambulance setting. The Critical care level based on training and under the supervision of the critical care team. Advanced EMT skills in the ambulance setting are under the direction of a physician.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation.

Minimum Required: Graduate of an accredited program for the training of Emergency Medical Technician EMTs.

Preferred/Optional: None

EXPERIENCE 

Minimum Required: None

Preferred/Optional: Minimum three months 911 level EMS operations.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES 

The following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position.  Licenses with restrictions are subject to review to determine if restrictions are substantially related to the position.

Minimum Required:

• Current Wisconsin Emergency Medical Technician (EMT - Advanced) license, with renewal as dictated by State of Wisconsin.

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) within three months of hire.

• Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator's license as verified through appropriate licensing agency. Must meet the driving requirements and criteria acceptable to MCHS's insurer.

• Emergency Vehicle Operations Certification (EVOC), Certified Emergency Vehicle Operator (CEVO), or Emergency Vehicle Driver Training (EVDT) within two years of hire.

Preferred/Optional:

* Emergency Vehicle Operations Certification (EVOC), Certified Emergency Vehicle Operator (CEVO), or Emergency Vehicle Driver Training (EVDT) at the time of hire.

The following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position. Licenses with restrictions are subject to review to determine if restrictions are substantially related to the position.

Minimum Required:

• Current Wisconsin Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) license, with renewal as dictated by State of Wisconsin. Current employees who obtain a Paramedic license may remain in the EMT job role for a grace period up to twelve months or until a Paramedic position becomes available within the department, whichever comes first. This exception applies only to existing employees and is contingent upon the newly licensed Paramedic working within the scope of their current EMT/AEMT position and remaining in the EMT/AEMT compensation grade during this grace period.

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) within three months of hire.

• Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator's license as verified through appropriate licensing agency. Must meet the driving requirements and criteria acceptable to MCHS's insurer.
