About this role

Cabell Huntington Hospital is seeking a part-time Specimen Collection Tech to work with in our IP Specimen Collection Department. 

 

The primary purpose of the Inpatient Specimen Collector is to collect venous, arterial and capillary blood specimens for analysis by the laboratory technical staff.  To support and assist in obtaining non-blood specimens within scope, ex. Routine sterile and clean catch cup urinalysis, nasal swabs for viral culture, covid, flu,  throat swabs for strep or throat culture etc.

Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent required. 
  • Junior College/Technical School preferred. 
  • Phlebotomy Certification from an approved school OR 6 months experience required. 
    • The kind of position-related experience includes venipuncture and specimen collections.
  • National Phlebotomy Certification preferred. 
  • AHA BLS required. 
  • Successful completion of the Medical Terminology exam required.
