Job Title: Railroad Track Laborer

Position Overview:
We are seeking a Railroad Track Laborer to perform essential tasks in the maintenance, repair, and construction of railroad tracks. This position requires a strong work ethic, attention to safety, and the ability to work in physically demanding environments. You will handle a variety of tasks and tools essential for ensuring the reliability and safety of railroad operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Drive spikes into ties using manual or powered tools.

• Move and set cross ties and lengths of steel rail.

• Shovel stone and maintain ballast alignment.

• Adjust and lubricate switches to ensure proper operation.

• Tighten track bolts and check track gauge and cross-level.

• Carry and use track jacks (approximately 40 lbs.) for maintenance work.

• Follow company policies on safety and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).

• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or GED preferred.

• Military experience is a plus.

Language Skills:

• Ability to read and understand simple instructions, correspondence, and memos.

• Proficiency in basic arithmetic, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability:

• Apply common sense to carry out detailed but straightforward instructions.

• Address and resolve typical problems that arise during track maintenance activities.
