About this role

Description

Markon is seeking a Network Engineer Lead responsible for designing, engineering, and deploying secure, scalable network solutions across data center and LAN/WAN environments for our Virginia Customer in the Northern Virginia Area.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership throughout the full system lifecycle, ensuring compliance with cybersecurity best practices and organizational standards.
  • Managing enterprise-level network and security infrastructure.
  • Validate network designs against industry best practices.
  • Optimize system and network performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate emerging technologies.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Active TS/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph (preferrably from this client).
  • Minimum of 8+ years of relevant network engineering and network systems leadership experience.
  • Proficiency in server administration, routine maintenance, and user account management.

     

  • Hands-on experience building, deploying, and maintaining Cisco Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI) networks.

     

  • Recent (within the last 3 years) hands-on experience with:

     

    • Cisco Data Center, LAN/WAN, and Client Access technologies (MACsec, HSRP, VRF, ACLs, BGP, EIGRP).

       

    • Operating systems: IOS-XE, NX-OS, and Linux.

       

    • Firewalls and VPN concentrators (FTD and ASA).

       

    • Network and application load balancers.

       

  • Experience leading, managing, and delivering engineering projects.

     

  • Practical knowledge of implementing cybersecurity best practices across network and system environments.

     

  • Experience using ticketing and case-management systems for issue tracking and resolution.

     

  • Deep understanding of high-availability technologies and deployment strategies.

Desired:

  • Proven expertise in designing, deploying, and maintaining enterprise-grade network and security solutions, including Cisco ASA firewalls managed via Firepower Management Center, Nutanix hypervisor platforms, Palo Alto Firewalls through Panorama, and Citrix Application Delivery Controllers. 
  • Hands-on experience with SIEM and advanced security analytics tools, such as Splunk, packet capture (pcap), NetFlow, and SolarWinds, for proactive threat detection and incident response. 
  • Strong proficiency in multiple operating systems, including Linux, Cisco OS, IOS-XE, and NX-OS, ensuring robust infrastructure management and optimization. 
  • Skilled in evaluating emerging technologies and integrating them into technical roadmaps, driving innovation and enhancing organizational security posture.

Salary Range

USD $170,000.00 - USD $190,000.00 /Yr.The Markon pay range for this position is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
