About this role

Description

Markon’s partner company is seeking a Network Design Architect 2 to support enterprise network and system operations within a mission-focused environment. This role is responsible for maintaining and improving enterprise computer systems and network infrastructure, troubleshooting complex technical issues, and implementing corrective actions to ensure consistent availability and performance. The ideal candidate will be customer-focused, technically hands-on, and capable of guiding modernization and migration efforts with minimal operational impact.

Responsibilities

Mission Focus

  • Actively manage enterprise computer systems and network infrastructure, ensuring system health, stability, and performance.
  • Analyze technical issues, conduct root-cause troubleshooting, and develop/implement corrective actions.
  • Observe and interpret visual outputs and system/network status indicators to confirm operational readiness of network components.
  • Translate user requests into technical diagnoses, then design and implement solutions that meet operational requirements.
  • Develop migration strategies to transition customers to new architectures or technologies with minimal mission disruption.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and equipment and recommend solutions aligned to Agency standards.

Technical Responsibilities

  • Perform systems and network administration support across enterprise environments.
  • Support hardware installation and sustainment, including servers and network infrastructure components.
  • Configure and maintain storage solutions, including network-attached storage (NAS).
  • Implement security best practices, including:
    • PKI certificate generation
    • Certificate deployment, management, and maintenance
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts using Unix/Linux shell scripting (Bash, Bourne, or C shell).
  • Support application administration and IT service support activities as needed to sustain mission operations.

Qualifications

  • Active TS/SCI with Polygraph
  • Bachelor’s degree plus 5+ years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in network administration and/or system administration.
  • Strong experience in Linux system environments.
  • Experience with enterprise infrastructure support, including:
    • Hardware installation (servers, networking equipment)
    • Storage configuration (NAS)
    • Application administration and/or IT support/management
  • Experience implementing security best practices including PKI/certificate management.
  • Proficiency with Unix/Linux shell scripting (Bash, Bourne, or C shell).
  • IAM Tier 1 certification (required).

Desired Skills

  • Familiarity with JavaScript and React.
  • Experience migrating legacy applications to newer technologies and architectures.
  • Proven ability to work directly with customers to implement solutions supporting mission or business processes.

Salary Range

USD $100,000.00 - USD $210,000.00 /Yr.The Markon pay range for this position is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
