About this role

Description

Markon is seeking a Mid-Level Cloud Architect in Springfield, VA to support enterprise transformation initiatives across GEOINT mission systems and projects for the NGA. The role involves applying systems engineering and integration expertise to modernize GEOINT architectures and advance mission capabilities through architecture, requirements, integration, and testing activities.

Responsibilities

Duties include (but are not limited to):

  • Partner with Expert and Senior Systems Engineers, Integrators, and Architects.
  • Perform architecture gap analysis and develop the Future State Enterprise Architecture.
  • Conduct engineering analyses to inform GEOINT Mission and IT capability investment decisions in alignment with the Enterprise Architecture baseline.
  • Conduct baseline analysis, driving allocation of requirements to systems architecture components and executing programs and end-to-end traceability of requirements, architecture, etc.
  • Help advance NGA’s multiple cloud acquisition, through enterprise architecture and requirements activities. Identifies and documents associated Risks, Issues, and Opportunities. 
  • Capture and translate mission and customer requirements/needs into systems/capability requirements and solutions.
  • Perform systems integration activities across organizations; participate in integrated project teams, driving the development of project plans, architecture and engineering artifacts (e.g., CONOPS), roadmaps / schedules, Risks, etc.
  • Participate in Analysis of Alternatives (AoAs), Course of Actions (CoAs), Trade Studies, and Engineering Assessments.
  • Participate in NGA Governance, Configuration Management, and Risk Management processes.
  • Help define modernized system integration processes, driving enhanced adoption of agile practices and digital engineering, efficiencies, and increased partnerships across a large number of organizations.

Qualifications

Required:

  • An Active TS/SCI with a CI Polygraph is required.
    • A TS/SCI with ability to polygraph may be considered if all required and desired qualifications are met.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or related STEM degree program, or equivalent Mid level experience as a Cloud Architect.
    • Understanding and demonstrated Mid-level working experience with systems engineering processes (e.g., Architecture, Requirements, Integration, Test, and/or Transition).
  • 6-12+ years of working experience in cloud-based systems architecting.

Desired:

  • Experience with the NGA is highly preferred.
  • Experience / working knowledge of the GEOINT TCPED Architecture (Data Providers, Systems / Services, Interfaces, Data Flows).
  • Experience with agile project management tools, such as Jira and Confluence.
  • Cloud Certification(s) (AWS, Azure, and/or GCP).
  • Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) Certification(s).
  • Familiarity with multiple cloud concepts.
  • Experience / working knowledge of Platform-As-A-Service (PaaS).
  • Experience / working knowledge of DevSecOps principles and practices.

Salary Range

USD $100,000.00 - USD $150,000.00 /Yr.The Markon pay range for this position is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
