About the Position

This Legal Support Assistant, assigned to the Intake Bureau, performs a variety of entry-level specialized clerical support duties of limited complexity with established guidelines and procedures within the justice system.

We Require

  • One year of experience performing specialized clerical and customer service duties

  • High school diploma or GED

Other Requirements

The Maricopa County Attorney's Office requires a thorough background check of all successful candidates and is authorized to test prospective employees for the presence of illegally accessed drugs. Drug testing is conducted once an offer has been extended and prior to placement.

Job Contributions

  • Receive and greet incoming visitors

  • Answer the bureau phone line

  • Monitor the bureau's email inbox

  • Respond to inquiries from internal and external customers, both in person and via telephone

  • Open, sort, and distribute incoming mail

  • Log incoming case submittals from law enforcement agencies

  • Copy, scan, and upload case-related documents into the case management system

  • Assist with document delivery runs

  • Retrieve case information from various court and law enforcement agency databases

  • Perform criminal history/criminal records checks and bureau-specific data entry with exceptional accuracy

  • Document and maintain monthly work statistics

  • Maintain a current Terminal Operator Certification with the Department of Public Safety

Working Conditions

  • Mostly office setting in a high-volume, fast-paced environment

  • Requires long periods of sitting while completing computer activities

  • Ability to travel to and from various county locations for meetings and trainings, utilizing personal or county vehicle

  • Ability to lift boxes and pull a mailcart weighing 25 – 40 pounds
