The Engineer Associate Senior provides complex, specialized, non-registered professional engineering duties or professional-level duties in a discipline directly associated with civil engineering projects. Tasks are often of high difficulty, requiring application of standard and non-standard techniques and procedures, and requiring independent judgment.

We Require
Two years of professional pre-registration civil engineering experience or hydrology experience
Bachelor's degree in a work-related engineering discipline, such as, but not limited to, Civil, Structural, Chemical, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering, Landscape Architecture, Surveying, Hydrology, Environmental Science, or Geology
Certification as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) may substitute for the experience requirement
A combination of related post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the minimum qualifications on a year-for-year basis
Other Requirements
Successful candidates must currently possess, or have the ability to obtain, a valid Arizona driver's license by the time of hire
Job Contributions
May lead or directly supervise the area of assignment by assigning and directing work, providing training, establishing goals, evaluating performance, counseling and disciplining employees as needed, and preparing and approving work schedules; responsible for interviewing and selecting functions
Perform inspections and reviews of engineering plans in assigned areas (e.g., hydrology, permit plans, traffic, etc.); monitor all aspects of a project, including impacts on other projects
Assure project deliverables meet scope, schedule, cost, and quality requirements
Meet with staff at various levels, including leadership, engineers, contractors, and the public, to clearly communicate engineering and/or plan requirements
Enforce the regulations for Maricopa County to ensure development is in compliance
Represent the assigned department at various meetings with other government agencies and the public
Coordinate the development of project design concepts and criteria
Provide modifications and approvals of projects for plans; make recommendations on the selection of appropriate countermeasures during projects
Compile, interpret, analyze, and calculate field data
Perform other related duties as assigned
Working Conditions
This position requires the employee to be in the office/field or customer-facing for all hours worked
Must be able to work in a normal indoor office environment. Some work duties involve long periods of sitting, standing, walking, driving a vehicle, bending/kneeling, reaching, and wearing protective gear indoors and outdoors. The weight required to lift, push, pull, or carry is 50 pounds
Dexterity of hands for computer work, desk work, and driving motor vehicles. Must be able to work outdoors on occasion in extreme heat, cold, wind, or rain on projects. Must be able to manage frequent interruptions, time pressures, high work volumes, multiple and complicated tasks, unscheduled tasks, team-oriented activities, prompt decision-making, and interaction with government officials and the public. Must constantly maintain concentration, accuracy, ethical behavior, and a professional demeanor

Microsoft Office, Revu Bluebeam Electronic Plan Review software, and Proprietary Permitting software
