PURPOSE:  This position is responsible for the removal and disposal recyclables and dry and wet waste to maintain a high standard of cleanliness and safety at MOA while also providing memorial shopping and entertainment experience.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:

• Operate electric Power Industrial Vehicle (PIV) to transport wheeled recycling and trash bins from recycling rooms to loading dock.
• Separate the waste from recyclables.
• Empty trash and cardboard containers into compactors and bailers.
• Operate wet waste and recycling compactor, and empty cardboard compactors and bailers.
• Operate auto scrubber, pressure washer, and other powered machinery to clean sub-level and service corridors.
• Operate pressure washing equipment.
• Clean trash and recycling rooms, including sweeping, mopping, and pressure washing.
• Empty grease barrels and tanks from restaurants and food court tenants.
• Maintain cleanliness of service level and corridors.
• Operator auto scrubber to clean service corridors.
• Operate a forklift to move materials on and around loading dock.
• Monitor loading dock activity to ensure items are disposed of in the proper location.
• Ensure emergency stairwell and exits throughout the Mall are clear of trash and debris.
• Ensure the overall safety of the immediate work area as well as surrounding areas.
• Work flexible schedule including rotating shifts including nights, weekends and holidays.
• Additional duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Previous experience in trash removal, waste management, or custodial duties.
• Previous experience working with and operating heavy machinery.
• Working knowledge + and ability to safely handle and operate powered industrial vehicles, trash compactors, bailers, forklift and other heavy machinery.
• Good verbal communication skills.
• Able to work independently or as part of a team.
• Ability to work in in extreme weather condition.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job, the team member will continuously be required to talk and listen to machines and environment in order to understand maintenance needs and communicate a solution with other team members. Team member must also possess a level of hearing that will allow them to be aware of their surroundings, including hearing alarms, radios, and sounds from machines and vehicles. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Team members are required to be able to tolerate multiple sensory stimuli at once while performing their duties. These stimuli may include loud auditory/noise, smells/olfactory, lights, colors, motion, and other visual stimuli. Vision can be supplemented with corrective lenses, with the ability to wear eye protection and other required PPE to perform job duties. Waste & Recycling team members must be able to tolerate working in extreme temperatures (hot + cold) in a semi enclosed workspace. Waste & Recycling team members must be able to tolerate working in areas with extreme strong odors.
