About this role

PURPOSE: To responsibly direct the daily activities of the Retail associates and provide exceptional guest service to all guests at Mall of America. To maintain welcoming and inviting stores and support the Retail team. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Lead Retail team members emphasizing guest service and MOA policies and standards. 
  • Responsible for opening and closing store locations. 
  • Assign daily tasks and projects to team members. 
  • Lead by example being a positive influence for team members on a daily basis. 
  • Operate the MOA point of sale system, including issuing refunds and other advanced POS operations. 
  • Recognize positive team member performances and share team member success with supervisors. 
  • Address team member performance concerns, giving immediate feedback focusing on improvement. 
  • Assist with documentation of team member performance issues, communicating with department supervisors as needed. 
  • Copy radio calls and prioritize tasks with other team leads as they are communicated. 
  • Utilize provided radio to communicate and coordinate tasks with other team leads and supervisors. 
  • Facilitate pre-shift meetings (Take5) which includes communicating relevant news and making independent decisions to ensure coverage at each location.  
  • Manage staffing levels and breaks according to department needs, including interdepartmental staffing. 
  • Train team members for the Retail Cashier role adapting to individual learning styles while maintaining consistency with coverage of materials. 
  • Be a subject matter expert on department procedures and support coworkers in their work as needed. 
  • Manage certification paperwork and documentation following training sessions. 
  • Responsible for receiving new merchandise including verifying SKU, price and quantity, and communicating with warehouse regarding any discrepancies. 
  • Supporting team members by resolving complex guest concerns, stocking, working on displays, and other projects as needed. 
  • Explain and enforce ticket policies for Nickelodeon Universe® and other attractions. 
  • Monitor inventory and work with supervisors to request product from warehouse or vendors. 
  • Ensure backrooms are organized to maximize stocking capabilities. 
  • Assist supervisors by resolving minor team member concerns, ensure breaks are taken on time, report violations of MOA policies and procedures including appearance guidelines and cash handling. 
  • Present positive and professional demeanor towards guests and team members. 
  • Act as a leader in safety during weather, lockdown and other security procedures. 
  • Act as a Retail Cashier as needed. 
  • Ensure overall cleanliness and safety of the work area.  
  • Cross train with other MOA departments, and willing to assist other departments when needed. 
  • Work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and high volume days. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 

 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: 

  • Must be at least 16 years of age. 
  • At least 1 year retail experience. 
  • Interpersonal skills – working alone and with a team.  
  • Outstanding guest service skills. 
  • Strong listening and written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Previous point of sale and cash handling experience.  
  • Previous leadership experience preferred. 
  • Basic knowledge of computers preferred. 

 

PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS: 

While performing the duties of this job, the team member will frequently be required to speak and listen to guests in order to understand their needs and communicate a solution. Team member must also possess a level of hearing that will continuously allow them to be aware of their surroundings and recognize when a guest needs their attention. Specific vision abilities required by this job include frequent close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Team members are required to be able to tolerate multiple sensory stimuli at once while performing their duties. These stimuli may include: loud auditory/noise, smells/olfactory, bright lights, colors, motion, and other visual stimuli.

Starting pay
$16.59
