About this role

About the Position: Mako is seeking a Project Manager to lead large-scale, multi-stream digital transformations for our most significant enterprise clients. This role is designed to own the end-to-end coordination of complex implementations involving multiple lines of business, complex integrations, and rigorous infrastructure/security requirements. You will serve as the central nervous system for our delivery teams, ensuring that Solutions Engineering, Product, and Infrastructure tracks remain aligned and on schedule.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own the overall project timeline, roadmap, and governance structure for high-visibility, multi-stream implementations.
  • Lead status reporting, RAID logs, and decision tracking to provide full transparency to both internal and client-side executive leadership.
  • Coordinate across complex workflows, integrations, and infrastructure/security tracks (including SSO, access control, and environment setup).
  • Facilitate technical workshops and steering committee meetings, ensuring clear agendas, structured outcomes, and timely follow-ups.
  • Act as the centralized communication point for the client, managing expectations and ensuring faster decision alignment across diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Proactively manage risks and escalate blockers, identifying potential sequencing gaps before they impact the delivery velocity.
  • Ensure consistent requirements capture and documentation to minimize rework and maintain alignment across cross-functional teams.

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following traits:

  • Strategic Coordination and Oversight: Take full accountability for the project’s health. Balance the needs of various internal technical teams with the client’s business objectives to ensure a professional and well-structured experience.
  • Technical Dependency Management: Demonstrate a deep understanding of how infrastructure, security, and software development intersect. Proactively manage the technical "handshake" between internal builds and client-side IT requirements.
  • Risk Mitigation and RAID Management: Champion a proactive culture of risk identification. Maintain rigorous logs for risks, actions, issues, and decisions to prevent project slippage and misaligned expectations.
  • Stakeholder Diplomacy: Serve as a trusted advisor and primary liaison for the client. Navigate complex organizational structures to align technical SMEs, compliance officers, and C-suite executives.
  • Operational Excellence: Drive increased delivery velocity by absorbing the coordination overhead that typically slows down SMEs and Engineers, allowing them to stay focused on analysis, design, and deployment.

Need to have:

  • 5+ years of Project Management experience, specifically leading enterprise software implementations or large-scale digital transformations in the financial services sector.
  • Expertise in managing complex integrations and infrastructure onboarding (e.g., APIs, SSO, and secure environment setups).
  • Proficiency in project management software such as Jira and Confluence for tracking RAID logs and roadmaps.
  • Deep understanding of Agile, Waterfall, and Hybrid methodologies, with the ability to adapt governance to project needs.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills, with a proven ability to translate technical jargon into business value for stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership skills, with a background in managing numerous stakeholders across multiple organizations simultaneously.

Nice to have:

  • PMP or PRINCE2 certification.
  • Knowledge of the wealth management industry and regulatory compliance standards.
  • Experience in a fast-paced fintech or startup environment.
  • Fluency in written/spoken French.

Location & Position:

  • Hybrid with offices in Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver and Halifax.
  • On-site work at client sites may be occasionally required.
  • This role can be structured as either a contract or a permanent position.

Why work for us:

  • High-end laptop.
  • Competitive compensation
  • You get to join a fast-growing fintech start-up and participate in its long-term success.
