Job Description:

What You’ll Do:
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Senior Director of Revenue Cycle provides strategic oversight and leadership across all areas of the revenue cycle — ensuring integrity, efficiency, and alignment with MaineGeneral’s financial and operational goals. You’ll bring both strategic vision and operational depth to optimize performance, strengthen processes, and lead a high-performing team committed to continuous improvement.

Revenue Cycle Leadership & Strategy

  • Direct all revenue cycle functions, including patient access, billing, charge capture, denials, and collections.

  • Drive strategies to improve cash flow and key metrics such as clean claim rate, days in AR, and net collection rate.

  • Deliver regular, data-driven reporting and analysis to senior leadership on trends, results, and opportunities for improvement.

Payor Relations & Compliance

  • Maintain deep expertise in payor contracts, reimbursement methodologies, and regulatory requirements.

  • Ensure compliance with all billing and reimbursement standards while optimizing reimbursement and resolving escalated payor issues.

Denials & Appeals Management

  • Lead a comprehensive denials program focused on reducing denial rates, recovering lost revenue, and identifying root causes.

  • Oversee timely, accurate appeals in partnership with clinical and coding teams, monitoring trends to drive proactive improvements.

Operational Excellence & Innovation

  • Champion data analytics and emerging technology to enhance accuracy, transparency, and efficiency across all revenue functions.

  • Oversee departmental budgets, internal controls, and audits to maintain fiscal accountability and operational integrity.

Team Leadership & Collaboration

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a talented team of revenue cycle professionals, fostering collaboration, accountability, and growth.

  • Partner with finance, clinical, and operational leaders to align goals, streamline processes, and strengthen enterprise-wide performance.

What You Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Healthcare Management, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.

  • Ten (10) years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare revenue cycle management, including billing, collections, and denials oversight.

  • Demonstrated success improving clean claim rate, days in AR, denial rate, and net collection rate.

  • Deep understanding of payor requirements, contracts, and reimbursement methodologies.

  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive operational transformation in complex healthcare environments.

  • Exceptional communication, analytical, and relationship-building skills.

  • Familiarity with Epic or comparable revenue cycle platforms preferred.
