Job Description:

The Role: Patient Access Representative – Imaging Department

MaineGeneral Health is currently seeking a Patient Access Representative to perform financial clearance, registration, and clerical duties associated with point-of-service (POS) services for our patients and families in our Imaging department.

The Opportunity: 

 MaineGeneral Health has an exciting opportunity for you to join our team of Patient Access professionals. At MGH we believe in a team atmosphere where there is room to learn and grow within the department as well as the organization!

The Work: 

  • Meets with patient or patient's caregiver to exchange necessary information and documentation. Provides an explanation of the process and addresses concerns and questions
  • Communicates with unit staff and other appropriate personnel to exchange necessary information and determine placement
  • Verifies insurance benefits and obtains precertification/authorization, and ensures verification of medical necessity as necessary. Determines and accepts required payments, including co-pays deductibles, and coinsurance, or refers to financial counselors for follow up
  • Ensures that all necessary demographic, billing, and clinical information is obtained and entered into the registration system with timeliness and accuracy

You Have:

  • Extensive customer service experience
  • Excellent and demonstrated communication skills/Computer literacy
  • 1 year of patient registration, scheduling, or other clerical/customer service experience in a medical office setting preferred
  • Ability to keyboard accurately and quickly
  • Basic insurance knowledge preferred
