Main Line HealthCare is seeking a Hospitalist Scholar to join our expanding Division of Hospital Medicine at Lankenau Medical Center, an academic community hospital with a strong research infrastructure and a long-standing commitment to medical education. This role blends 0.75 FTE of clinical work (admitting shifts and nocturnist coverage) with 0.25 FTE of protected, grant-funded scholarly activity, offering a unique opportunity for physicians seeking a concentrated, academically focused year while delivering high-quality inpatient care.

This position is ideal for physicians who are fellowship-bound, exploring a future academic career, or seeking to build a research portfolio in a supportive environment. Scholars will engage in projects aligned with Cardiology or Hematology/Oncology in partnership with the Lankenau Institute for Medical Research (LIMR)—a nationally recognized translational research center committed to innovation and scientific advancement.

Role Highlights

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide inpatient care at a primary hospital assignment (Lankenau Medical Center) with flexibility to support other MLH campuses as needed.
  • Perform admissions, cross-coverage, and acute event management during clinical shifts.
  • Engage in meaningful academic work during protected time, including:
    • Clinical research
    • Quality improvement initiatives
    • Scholarly writing or abstract development
    • Collaboration with LIMR research teams
  • Participate in interdisciplinary communication to support seamless, patient-centered care.

Qualifications

  • MD or DO from an accredited institution
  • Board Certified/Board Eligible in Internal Medicine
  • Valid Pennsylvania medical license or eligibility
  • DEA license and ACLS certification
  • Comfortable managing overnight admissions, codes, and rapid response activations
  • Interest in academic medicine, research, or specialty fellowship preparation preferred
