Job Title: Material Handler 1 

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Reports to: Warehouse Supervisor/Warehouse Lead 

Dept: Warehouse 

 

Position Summary

The Material Handler is responsible for accurately pulling and scanning units from designated bins according to standard operating procedures (SOP). This position requires meeting productivity standards of 150 units per hour while adhering to the Out-of-Stock (OOS) and Stock Review processes. The Material Handler must promptly report any discrepancies to the Pulling Lead and follow all instructions from Leads, Supervisors, and Managers. Maintaining a clean and organized work area throughout the shift is essential, with full cleanup required at the end of each shift. Replenishing and pulling product will require use of material handling equipment.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Thorough knowledge of the company’s and customers’ product lines, including, but not limited to, garment style, size, color, item number and brand. 
  • Understand locations of staging areas as well as bin order and location.
  • Accurately pull orders by pull sheet, sales order and or record in a timely manner.
  • Examine garments for defects and adherence to approved company standards for quality during pulling process.
  • Verifies completed pulls through documentation either written or via In House Order management program (ZIFT).
  • Alert Inventory Team when stock bins are low and need blank replenishment
  • Perform shop benchmark standards for pieces per hour.
  • Maintains cleanliness of work area and equipment reporting any malfunction to supervisor immediately.
  • Help maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Attendance is required, to avoid absentee and tardy problems.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, calmly and effectively verbally strong multi-tasking ability and time management and organizational skills. 
  • Ability to use equipment as directed and maintain operational & safety procedures.
  • Demonstrated initiative, follow through and problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to foster a positive and professional work environment. 

 

 Work Conditions

  • Work performed in a production/warehouse setting with exposure to fabric fibers, dyes, and packaging.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting to 50 lbs.
  • Must be comfortable working safely at heights up to 30 ft. 
  • Position will require in-house certification on material handling equipment (order pickers/reach trucks/turret trucks/pallet jacks/product carts)
  • Moderate noise levels and temperature changes depending on production area.
  • Must follow safety and environmental procedures for handling and disposing of materials.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Office with open floor plan
  • Business casual office attire
  • Work is performed inside a temperature-controlled building

 

   Physical requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to handle or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.


3rd Shift, Friday - Sunday, 5:00am-5:00pm
