Job Overview

The Enterprise Solution Architect aligns technology initiatives with business strategies and outcomes through active partnership, collaborating with peers to define and advance the vision for Macy’s enterprise architecture. This role serves two primary functions: partnering with other Enterprise Architects to shape and promote architectural strategy, and providing strategic and hands-on guidance to core value streams to bridge organizational teams and deliver end-to-end value.

As the Enterprise Solution Architect for the Fulfillment value stream, this role focuses on maturing Macy’s capabilities to optimize, manage, move, and measure inventory across the enterprise ecosystem. The Enterprise Solution Architect represents enterprise architecture across Forecasting, Demand, Inventory Management, Order Management, and Return Management, and serves as a trusted subject matter expert with a deep understanding of existing technology platforms, current business processes, gaps, and roadmaps. This role proactively identifies and drives cross-cutting opportunities and provides vision, guidance, and active design support for key initiatives, establishing a reputation as a partner of choice for business and technology stakeholders by unlocking value, reducing costs, minimizing risk and complexity, and ensuring strong cross-functional alignment.

What You Will Do

  • Build strong relationships with leaders, stakeholders, and teams within assigned value streams, establishing credibility as a trusted partner of choice.
  • Work across diverse business and technology domains to ensure end-to-end solutions are cohesive, scalable, and aligned with value delivery.
  • Identify, design, and document solution architectures for critical flows within assigned value streams.
  • Provide architectural consultation and governance for high-value or high-risk initiatives, clearly communicating and documenting technical and business trade-offs.
  • Define solution architectures for cross-cutting, enterprise-critical initiatives that impact assigned value streams.
  • Develop and maintain deep subject matter expertise across people, processes, technology, and business strategy within the value stream.
  • Champion Macy’s target-state (North Star) architecture, promoting solution designs that meet or exceed business objectives and align with long-term strategy.
  • Collaborate effectively in an agile environment, participating in relevant ceremonies, design sessions, and planning activities.
  • Identify and drive prioritization, funding, and adoption of shared platforms, components, and architectural approaches to accelerate delivery, reduce risk, and improve solution quality.
  • Identify and promote opportunities to simplify architectures, reduce complexity, and lower costs across assigned value streams.
  • Actively contribute to defining the value stream roadmap and own the architectural runway.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to architecture and engineering teams.
  • Participate in enterprise architecture processes, including the Architecture Community of Practice, governance forums, procurement reviews, ad hoc consultations, North Star evolution, and standards development and maintenance.
  • Foster an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships, and ensures authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and communities.
  • In addition to the essential duties mentioned above, other duties may be assigned.
