The project:
We’re seeking a dynamic State Lead for Queensland, based in our Brisbane office, to lead and inspire a diverse team of consultants and leaders. You’ll play a pivotal role in delivering high-profile projects, driving commercial success, and shaping our strategic direction in QLD. As an experienced professional in project and programme management field, you’ll bring a strong client focus, proven commercial acumen and extensive experience in the oversight of large capital infrastructure programmes and project delivery.

You’ll need to have:
  • Demonstrating positive and visible leadership that aligns with our Mace values, the face of our QLD business both internally and in the local market.
  • Effectively delivering the business P and L in line with target budgets.
  • Contributing to the development of the broader business strategy, delivering commercially successful projects and engaging with clients.
  • Efficient resource management across our markets and portfolios including recruitment, retention and people engagement.
  • Supporting the business management systems and health, safety and wellbeing culture while ensuring the wellbeing of the team, in line with relevant legislation.
  • Taking project directorship roles in state significant projects and providing support and guidance to comply with legislative and Mace policies and procedures.
  • Extensive sector and/or market-specific experience, knowledge and contacts.
  • Extensive experience in successful delivery of major programmes, through all phases.
  • Leadership and management experience and capability to lead a large team.
  • Tertiary qualifications in related (project management and/or construction related discipline), non-related degree or equivalent professional experience/apprenticeship, combined with a demonstrable level of role knowledge, (or equivalent).
  • Appropriate construction skills certification scheme (CSCS) card (or global equivalent).
  • MAPM/MRICS/MICE.
  • Member Chartered Institute of Buildings.
  • Membership of Association of Project Management.
  • Member of Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors.
  • Member of Institute of Civil Engineers.
  • Proven experience and track-record for delivering major programmes.
  • Advanced technical understanding of programme management practices, controls, programme governance and programme procedures.
  • Full budgetary oversight (external programme budget and internal fee budget).
  • Advanced risk and opportunity management/practitioner.
  • Exceptional problem solving and analytical skills across estimating, scheduling, procurement, contract administration, financial controls and reporting, across the project lifecycle.
  • Contract literate to a good standard.
  • Performance management to ensure a high-performance culture is maintained.
     
You’ll also have:
  • Membership of RICS, CIOB, APM, ICE or equivalent demonstrable professional or personal development.  
  • Extensive experience in the successful delivery phase of projects and programmes in the programme management sector.
  • Deep property or infrastructure project management expertise.  
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen.  
  • Leadership and management experience of large, diverse teams.  
  • Experience of managing relationships with key senior stakeholders.  
  • Knowledge of how carbon and sustainability considerations will shape the outlook of the projects you are working on.
  • You have deep experience in the consulting market, and you have led teams delivering quality professional services that enhance the business’s reputation in the market.
  • You enjoy and have substantial experience leading successful teams that deliver high standards for your clients and run effective projects.
  • You will have both a personal and professional passion for the business development with an excellent track record at in delivering projects in a commercial/consultancy environment
  • An inclusive leadership style.
  • Tertiary qualifications in engineering or built environment.
  • Demonstrable record of writing proposals and winning work, ideally within the health and social infrastructure, energy, infrastructure, transport or defence markets.
  • Ability to develop tactical strategies that are aligned with our business goals and that are adaptive to change.
  • Knowledge of current professional standards and innovations guaranteeing high levels of safety in project design and delivery, supported by quality checking and verification activities.
  • Passionate to continuously build capability and innovation.
  • Acting as the public face of the programme to external stakeholders.
  • Advanced competency and understanding of current health safety executive (HSE) (or local equivalent) regulations.
  • Relevant and commensurate technical, leadership and management qualifications.
  • Established and effective industry/sector wide network of clients, consultants and contractors.
  • Advanced knowledge of consultancy/construction, infrastructure and property sectors.
  • Proven innovator with a track-record of creating and implementing high-value innovations and better approaches/ways of working.
  • Highly regarded across the relevant sector/market and operating at the highest level of compliance.
  • Involves suppliers and key players in their business area, in improving core processes.
  • Setting new standards of health, safety and wellbeing in their business area.
  • Utilizing personal and industry network competencies to promote, support and drive construction to production, digital and data and low carbon innovations.
  • Has spent time in both a consultancy and a construction environment.
  • Highly effective communicator/presenter and ability to interface with senior government officials and other senior stakeholders with significant gravitas.
  • Ability to capture the audience and clearly transmit the position/message.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to manage relationships with key stakeholders.
