About this role

Mace combines construction expertise with consultancy to unlock potential in every person or project and redefine the boundaries of ambition. Our values shape the way we consult and define the people we want to join us on our journey.

The project: Following strong passenger growth from 2009 to 2019, increasing from 31 million to over 46 million passengers annually, the airport is planning for future recovery and long-term demand. Currently, only the main runway (MRW) is used in standard operations, with the northern runway (NRW) acting as a standby when the MRW is unavailable. The existing single runway operation constrains capacity at the airport. The northern runway project (NRP) proposes to bring the NRW into routine use for departures, operating in conjunction with the MRW to enable dual runway operations (DRO). The purpose of the NRP is to increase the airport’s overall capacity by more than 10 million passengers per annum and support operational resilience.

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Managing integrated delivery of dual runway and airfield infrastructure works.
  • Delivering terminal, pier, stand and ancillary building expansions.
  • Coordinating surface access, utilities, demolition and enabling works.
  • Embedding sustainability, environmental mitigation and operational readiness.
  • Establishing and lead an integrated IPT with GAL and technical partners.
  • Providing coordinated control across definition and delivery phases.
  • Driving strategic integration of airfield, surface access and DCO requirements.
  • Developing DRO/DRC enabling and main works, strengthening PMO capability and programme readiness.

You’ll need to have:

  • Chartered construction or engineering professional.
  • Degree or equivalent in relevant discipline.
  • Extensive experience leading construction on major infrastructure programmes.
  • Proven delivery in live operational environments.
  • Leadership of high-performing, multi-disciplinary teams.
