About this role

LSSI is hiring a full-time Apartment Maintenance. Responsible for maintaining all facets of physical plant and grounds in accordance with health and safety requirements at designated facilities.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform routine maintenance, janitorial duties, and repair of buildings and grounds. 
  • Report needs for major repairs. 
  • Follow standards regarding safety, licensing, regulatory and agency requirements. 
  • Implement and manage preventive maintenance program.
  • Assist in resident apartment or room turnover preparations. 
  • Perform on-call service, as scheduled, and respond promptly to emergencies. 
  • Demonstrate professional, positive behavior and carry out responsibilities with integrity, treating clients, families, other LSSI workforce members, and collaborative organizations and/or individual in a dignified, respectful, honest, and fair manner Document work orders and complete other reporting functions in compliance with LSSI and/or funding source requirements. 
  • Alert to and take action to avoid all physical conditions that may be a hazard to the health and safety of residents, clients, and/or staff. 
  • Assume minimal responsibilities for daily facility operations when Maintenance Manager is not present. 
  • Provide orientation and training to new maintenance staff. 
  • Respond to all incoming correspondence and questions in a timely manner; including but not limited to inquires received via email, telephone, text message, and fax. 
  • Ensure reasonable measures are taken to protect confidential and/or sensitive information as well as ensuring the security of all LSSI systems is maintained. 
  • Responsible for completing all required training assignments as well as complying with the related organizational, administrative, and programmatic policies. 
  • Perform all other duties and tasks as assigned.

 Position Qualifications:

  • Does not require HS Diploma or GED if previous Maintenance Experience.
  • Trade or technical school training preferred
  • Must have 3 to 5 years progressive experience dealing with environmental factors, hazards such as bed bugs, pests, or rodents.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate in clear, comprehensible manner, both verbally and in writing
  • Excellent organization, presentation, and pc/computer skills, including experience using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) along with other related software.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Trade or technical school training preferred
  • Background check clearance required.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years maintenance experience preferred.
  • HUD, OSHA, REAC, and ECT or related training preferred.
  • Access to an insured vehicle with REQUIRED and valid IL statutory minimum insurance coverage.
