Summary:
Responsible for scheduling transportation for residents (vehicles and chauffeurs), coordinating maintenance and licensing for community vehicles, driving the community vans and buses (including vehicles transporting 16+ passengers), and assisting in managing social activities for the residents in and out of the community; Upholds the EverTrue mission of “Older Adults Living Life to the Fullest”, core values and code of conduct with a high degree of confidentiality and integrity.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Schedules transportation for both the vehicles and all other chauffeurs for events, activities, joy rides, appointments, a la carte services, etc. for all levels of care within the community; Coordinates transportation with other staff outside of the Transportation department as needed
Assists in the development, review, interpretation and implementation of departmental policies and procedures
Evaluates and determines department staffing needs, recruits, interviews and selects potential employees, and work schedules
Supervises staff including delegating authority, directing, counseling, coaching and evaluating their performance to provide exceptional service to residents and coworkers
Assists in training and acclimating new employees and provides feedback on the standards of performance and work practices in the Transportation department
Coordinates/schedules maintenance (preventative and unexpected) with authorized service facility for all community vehicles; Delivers vehicles to service facility
Obtains required licensing and/or renewals for all community vehicles and drivers
Provides a high level of customer service while transporting residents to and from activities, appointments, and other outings; Provides assistance to residents including boarding and leaving the bus, seat belts, walkers, securing wheelchairs, groceries and packages
Maintains general upkeep of the vehicles including fueling and maintaining proper oil level and tire pressure, cleanliness
Follows all safety procedures and protocol as dictated by EverTrue policy, federal and state regulations and standard practice; Reports all hazardous conditions, defective equipment and accidents or incidents to the appropriate person immediately
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Driver’s License for transporting 16 or more passengers (including the driver): Class C License (or a Class A or Class B) with a Passenger Endorsement
DOT Compliant Physical 2 – 4 years of experience as a bus or van driver
Must be CPR certified
Ability to train other employees, delegate, and schedule work, monitor and evaluate performance of staff and follow up as appropriate
Ability to communicate effectively with residents; Written skills for reports
To be successful in this position, an employee will need patience and the ability to handle challenging situations; There may be circumstances that require the ability to make independent decisions when warranted; Flexibility may be required to accommodate evening or weekend activities

The employee is in and out of a vehicle on a daily basis and throughout each work shift, exposed to outdoor weather conditions that vary. The employee is sometimes subject to emotionally upset residents or family members.

Pay grade: 11
Pay range: $20.50/hour to $32.75/hour
