Shift Details:  M-F rotating scheduling covering days and early evening shifts with rotating Saturdays.

 

Job Summary:

The Radiologic Technologist performs a variety of medical exams using X-rays on patients to create images of specific parts of the body to assist physicians with formulating a medical diagnosis while complying with safety and regulatory requirements. Specifically, conducts radiology exams and documents clinically appropriate results for interpretive physicians and records.

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

(95%) Patient Care

  • Demonstrates the company’s values in daily activities. 
  • Uses proper radiation protection and precautions, prepares, and operates radiographic,
    fluoroscopic, and portable equipment safely and competently, while obtaining quality images
  • Positions patients to obtain appropriate radiographic exposures.
  • Positions patients for X-Ray exams using immobilization and protective equipment to comply with government regulations and to ensure the safety of patients and staff.
  • Evaluates images for technical quality, collates processed images and sequence of exposure and labels appropriately, and verifies transfer of images to PACS.
  • Applies the profession's code of ethics in all aspects of practice.
  • Maintains knowledge of, observes, and enforces the safety measures in the Environment of Care 
  • Demonstrates competence in following established imaging protocols and exercise’s ability to adjust protocols as required.
  • Ensures patient safety by screening for contraindications if a contrast exam is required
  • Participates in the implementation of solutions for imaging and quality challenges
  • Ensures proper charges are entered and referring physician’s orders are verified
  • Prepares examination rooms for radiology procedures.
  • Monitors inventory of supplies during room rotation and maintains room cleanliness and neat appearance.
  • Maintains accurate patient records.
  • Assist other modalities as needed.

(5%) Completes other tasks and projects as assigned.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • Knowledge of and adherence to company policies and protocols
  • Knowledge of and adherence to HIPAA and safety guidelines
  • Knowledge of anatomy and physiology
  • Knowledge of current technical skills and procedural understanding to perform a full range of scanning procedures.
  • Knowledge of and adherence to ALARA principles
  • Knowledge to perform regular QAQC for quality standard compliance; collaborates with Imaging Lead
  • Knowledge of basic level computer skills
  • Skill in organizing and prioritizing work and following assignments through to completion
  • Skill in written and verbal communication
  • Ability to operate and adjust scanning and ancillary equipment
  • Ability to take initiative to improve processes, think strategically, and identify trends
  • Ability to provide open, honest feedback to improve decision-making
  • Ability to maintain and build constructive relationships that produce results
  • Ability to work independently, as a team, and in a fast-paced environment and meet established deadlines
  • Ability to provide support for new initiatives and process implementation
  • Ability to be flexible in schedule and adaptable to constant change

Education and Experience:

  • Graduate of 24-month AMA-approved School of Radiology Technology
  • 12 months previous experience in diagnostic radiology
  • ARRT certification in Radiography
  • Applicable State Licensure, where required
  • IV credentialed if applicable
  • BLS certification preferred

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Heavy lifting: up to 100 lbs. maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand, stoop, lift, and walk without restrictions.
  • Requires computer-related activities for extended periods of time
  • Requires the ability to see, hear, speak, write and key
