Job Summary:

The Technologist performs a variety of medical exams using ultrasound equipment on patients to create images of specific parts of the body to assist physicians with formulating a medical diagnosis while complying with safety and regulatory requirements. Specifically, conducts images and documents clinically appropriate results for interpretive physicians and records.

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

 

  • Demonstrates the company’s values in daily activities
  • Demonstrates use of proper positioning to produce quality image studies
  • Operates equipment safely and competently, while obtaining high-quality images.
  • Maintains requires CE’s for both American Registry of Diagnostic Medical (ADRMS) and the American College of Radiology (ACR) compliance.
  • Participates in activities/tasks to obtain compliance and accreditation with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical (ADRMS) and the American College of Radiology (ACR)
  • Participates in annual Inspections and documentation requires by ACR
  • Demonstrates ability to collect appropriate clinical history and correlate findings with the procedure being performed
  • Ensures that comparison studies are obtained prior to sending the study to a radiologist for interpretation
  • Evaluates images for technical quality, collate processed images and sequence of exposure and labels appropriately
  • Applies the profession’s code of ethics in all aspects of practice
  • Maintains knowledge of, observes, and enforces the safety measures in the Environment of Care
  • Maintains accurate patient records; including documentation of communication method, date and to whom findings were communicated
  • Performs general and obstetrical ultrasound exams and thyroid aspirations

(5%) Completes other tasks and projects as assigned

 

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

  • Knowledge of and adherence to company policies and protocols
  • Knowledge of and adherence to HIPAA and safety guidelines
  • Knowledge of anatomy and physiology
  • Knowledge of current technical skills and procedural understanding to perform a full range of scanning procedures
  • Knowledge of and adherence to ALARA principles
  • Knowledge of basic level computer skills
  • Skill in organizing and prioritizing work and following assignments through to completion
  • Skill in written and verbal communication
  • Ability to operate and adjust scanning and ancillary equipment
  • Ability to take initiative to improve processes, think strategically, and identify trends 
  • Ability to provide open, honest feedback to improve decision-making 
  • Ability to maintain and build constructive relationships that produce results 
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet established deadlines

  • Ability to perform in all general exam areas with little supervision or review of cases

 

Education and Experience:

  • Graduate of 24-month AMA-approved School of Radiology Technology and subsequent Ultrasound technical program or Bachelor’s Degree in Ultrasound
  • Current certification by ARDMS in abdomen or OB/GYN required
  • Applicable State Licensure, where required
  • ACLS/BLS certification preferred

OR 

  • Graduate of 24-month AMA-approved School of Radiology Technology
  • Breast Certification required
  • 12 months experience in independent scanning
  • Applicable State Licensure, where required
  • ACLS/BLS certification preferred

 

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Basic lifting as required, not to exceed 50 pounds
  • Must be able to stand, stoop and lift and walk without restrictions.
  • Requires computer related activities for extended periods of time
  • Requires the ability to see, hear, speak, write and key
