PRN CT Technologist
Schedule: As needed coverage, typical hours Monday-Friday 8am-5pm
Locations: Float between AHI Huntsville and AHI Madison
American Health Imaging is looking for a registered CT Technologist for a PRN position in Huntsville and Madison. As a registered CT Technologist, you will perform high quality scans while providing excellent customer care and service to patients. This is a PRN role with varying shift schedules; typical hours Monday-Friday 8am-5pm.
Responsibilities:
- Perform CT examinations as ordered and accurately critique images to ensure diagnostic quality.
- Choose appropriate protocol and technical factors according to age, size and symptoms of patient
- Provide thorough explanation of procedure to the patient, anticipating and responding to patients’ needs and questions
- Position patients appropriately for ordered exam and assist patients on/off examination table as needed.
- Monitor patients during exam
- Verify patient information and obtain comprehensive medical history including any related prior studies
- Obtain consent for administration of IV contrast and follow established practices to provide treatment, documentation and follow-up in the case of any adverse effects of IV contrast administration
- Perform venipuncture for administration of IV contrast
- Prepare and administer contrast media according to established practices
- Utilize scanner within manufacture guidelines and take appropriate action for service as needed
- Utilize PACS and RIS for image processing and accurate documentation
- Maintain clear and safe environment, which includes preparing room for each patient
- Perform daily and monthly QA procedures on scanner
- Follow ALARA principles, Image Gently and Image Wisely to insure safe radiation practices.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with all HIPAA and Corporate Compliance regulations
- Initiate basic life support actions when necessary
- Use infection control practices
- Maintain punctuality and regular attendance
- All other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Graduate of approved program for Radiological Technology
- ARRT and CT Registry required
- Current BLS/CPR training
- CT scanner operation and training
- CT anatomy and knowledge of medical terminology
- Knowledge of operation system of CT scanner, RIS and PACS
- Basic proficiency with computer monitors, keyboard and mouse for scanning, RIS and PACS use
- Organized, detail oriented, observant
- Calm and effective communicator
- Helpful, patient and sympathetic
Physical Demands of the Position
- Lifting, moving, positioning and assisting of patients on/off examination table
- Walking 25% of shift, standing 50% of shift, sitting 25% of shift
