About this role

Job Purpose:

This position is accountable for managing and assuring appropriate Quality standards are maintained for all Lucy products, processes, systems, at suppliers end and to drive continuous improvement in all these areas. Be a Leader to drive the quality team and support Operations team.

 

Job Dimensions:

Direct Reports: 8 nos.

 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Being a Department Head, plan annual budget for the entire Quality function facilities and resources.     
  • Maintain, develop, and improve LIMS (QMS, EMS & OHSAS) and ISO certifications and manage smooth changeover to group ISO certification agency (AFNOR). Further work towards improving audit score year on year (YoY).
  • Take a lead in implementation of ISO systems in group companies & their ISO certifications. Manage and maintain Internal ISO systems and Process Audits.
  • Manage, coordinate and develop QA teams in Dubai & India to progressively improve the level of service provided by the team, reduce cost and increase skills and knowledge within the department.  
  • Manage the resolution of Customer Complaints and expectations including resolution and implementation of preventative and corrective actions.             
  • Risk Assessments & FMEA for Products due to any critical part failures/defects and generate Incident Reports for the potential failures.
  • Establish a COPQ (Cost of Poor Quality) measure and develop strategies to drive this down.
  • Develop and implement an appropriate APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) in line with the overall business and Group QA objectives, including appropriate KPI (Key Performance Indicators).
  • Manage Continuous Improvement projects through 8D and Six Sigma Principles.
  • Work closely with operations team for smooth & timely implementation of engineering changes.
  • Work closely with other departments to develop ERP systems to improve product, process and systems quality.
  • Take a lead in new products development from QA perspective.   
  • Work closely with Supply chain team for Supplier Development & New Suppliers Approval and New parts/assly developments.
  • Ensure suppliers yearly audits are planned and executed timely.
  • Supplier rejection rate is monitored and improved year on year (YoY).
  • Ensure that inward inspection is improved, controlled/monitored thru ERP and inspection lab is maintained with advanced, adequate, and duly calibrated instruments.
  • Work closely with other departments to develop ERP systems to improve product, process, and systems quality.

     

Job Context

A senior management team member in Dubai & India plant. The role is directly related to those activities carried out by Lucy’s in Dubai & India and Lucy’s interactions with subsidiary companies around the world.

 

Qualification, Experience, Skills

  • Must be an Electrical/Mechanical Engineering graduate. MBA is an added advantage.
  • Six Sigma black/Green Belt certified
  • Problem Solving skills
  • Certified Lead Auditor for ISO 9001, ISO 14001 & ISO 45001
  • Good awareness of various manufacturing processes
  • Leading successful cross-functional teams
  • Project Management
  • Proficient in MS office

 

Minimum Experience: 

  • At least 15+ years in electrical switchgear manufacturing related and QA/QC including electrical testing.

 

Job-Specific Skills:

  • A good background and knowledge of mechanical / electrical engineering
  • To undertake any other duties and responsibilities as required / instructed to maintain and/or improve the efficiency, quality and service provided by the QA Department. 
  • To undertake business travel abroad as and when required.
  • To cover the roles of subordinates during periods of vacations absence of illness.
  • To support other projects external to QA such a Business Development, Acquisition, or knowledge transfer activities.
  • To be the face of Quality to all group companies & customers.
  • Monitor multiple projects at hand
  • Computer literate to an intermediate level in Microsoft Excel / word / power point / outlook
  • Good communication skills and time management
