About this role


Job Purpose

 

We are seeking an enthusiastic Contract Design Engineer to join our close-knit Team at LME.

This is a great opportunity for a motivated self-starter to bring their existing skills and develop them further to become a key contributor within the Contract Engineering team whilst focusing on producing engineering solutions to meet our customers exacting technical Specifications.

 

Job Context

 

You will work as part of a small Engineering team whilst interacting closely with other pre and post sales departments to develop the design solutions required. 

Design tasks will be varied with a strong electro mechanical bias. 

Work to tight timescales to produce accurate and complete design packages to enable our manufacturing facility to produce product variance with minimal disruption to its normal production activities.

 

Job Dimensions

 

The role will be permanently based in LME facility and reports locally to the Head of Commercial Engineering. 

Utilising the Lucy PLM system to generate complete design solutions that meet the customer requirements in accordance with the companies required procedures and policies   

 

Key Accountabilities

 

  • Ability to plan and execute the allocated activities within specified timelines.
  • Produce accurate and complete wiring schematics and generate their manufacturing drawings.
  • Develop mechanical design solutions to house and enable the functionality required by the customer within the constraints of cost and quality.
  • Comply with the defined design processes developed by Lucy Engineering to issue drawings and Bills of Material.
  • Generate Customer Approval drawing packages to their predefined requirements
  • Actively seek, offer and implement suggestions for improvement.

 

Qualifications, Experience & Skills

 

  • Degree in Electrical and / or Mechanical Engineering with an MV/LV switchgear background.
  • 7 years in switchgear related activity
  • Experience in auxiliary electrical, electronic and protection systems for Switchgear applications 
  • Sheet metal part design experience
  • Good communication skills in a one to one or group environment
  • PC literate in Microsoft Office
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritise and work to deadlines
