About this role

Job Purpose:
To support hardware, software and production team for test setup development and to perform different types of tests. To analyzing requirements, extracting test scenarios and do functional & development testing for next generation Remote Terminal Unit (RTU) and other automation product range.

Description of the Accountability
Assist in the survey, planning and design stages for the execution of RTU projects and NPD (New Product development) Projects.
Develop, implement, test and troubleshoot RTU Databases, to do functional and development testing for next generation Remote Terminal Unit (RTU).
Develop, implement, test and troubleshoot Communication systems utilizing the experience of IP networking, UDP/TCP/IP and GPRS/EDGE/3G/4G modems etc.
Capture, document and report test results and observations Trouble shooting and hands on build-up/repair/rework of Test Set ups
Conduct and supervise field installation of new or retrofit equipment and prepare instructional installation documents for clients and project teams.

Job Context:
Apart from the Key Accountabilities, duties and responsibilities of the Engineer include:
1. Prepare a testing setup and carry out a development and functional testing
2. Working collaboratively with other engineers, operation engineers, purchasers and other internal staff
3. Working as a member within the new/current product engineering team, who collectively execute all the necessary activities to maintain, improve and optimize our products for the customer and production – considering especially the reliability and robustness aspects
4. Analyzing data and presenting findings in written reports
5. Providing advice and consultancy support for design and purchasing equipment

Qualifications, Experience & Skills
Graduate in Electronic/Electrical Engineering or equivalent 4-7 years working experience in similar industry Self-driven individual with hands-on skills.

Job-Specific Skills:

Essential strengths:
• Extensive knowledge of RTU’s (Remote Terminal Unit) i.e. Schneider C264, ABB 560, Siemens AK1703
• Experience with Communications devices such as Modems, GSM, GPRS, Routers, Firewalls, Ethernet, MPLS VPN and OFC
• Experience of communications protocols such as DNP3, IEC60870-5-101/104, IEC61850, TCP/IP, MODBUS Serial and TCP-IP
• Experience of MFM/MFT’s, IED’s
• Experience of ASE (Applied Systems Engineering) 2000 and TMW protocol simulators
• Experience in developing of Test Scenarios
• Experienced in developing of Test Plan
• Experienced in developing of Test Strategy
• Experienced in developing and execution of Test Cases from Test Plan and preparation of test report for further analysis
• Experienced in creating test metrics, defect tracking, bug reporting and find out RCA
• Familiarity with different types of testing like; Black box, White box & Grey box testing, Database Testing, Regression Testing, Smoke Testing, Soak Testing, UI Testing
• Ability to execute test cases at a different stage of Product Life Cycle
• Troubleshooting the testing errors and streamlining testing procedures

Desirable strengths:
• Knowledge of MV Distribution Switchgear and Substation equipment
• Experience in Relay/IED configuration software is an advantage.
• Basic knowledge on protection functions
• Programming languages such as IEC 61131-3/IEC61149 etc.
• Familiarity with bug tracking and traceability tools like JIRA, Bugzilla, Mentis
• Source code management tools like GIT, Subversion (SVN), SourceSafe
• Hands-on familiarity of the lab equipment such as Omicron/Doble, DSO, Power Supplies etc.,
• Assists in defining the process for execution of engineering activities related to all types of instrumentation and controls to identify the need for specialty assistance.
