The Custodian Manager serves as a lead worker responsible for the overall management, coordination, and quality control of custodial and housekeeping services within LSU Athletics facilities. This position ensures that approximately 1.6 million square feet of facilities including competition venues, training centers, locker rooms, offices, and common areas are maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and operational readiness. The role oversees multiple custodial crews and supervisors, develops work standards and procedures, and ensures efficient resource allocation to support the mission and events of LSU Athletics
Standard work schedule is Monday - Friday 4:00 am - 12:30 pm.
45% Directs and manages custodial operations for all assigned athletic facilities, ensuring effective cleaning schedules, staffing coverage, and maintenance of high sanitation and appearance standards across approximately 1.6 million square feet of facilities. Supervises Custodian Supervisors and custodial crews; conducts inspections to ensure compliance with cleaning protocols, safety standards, and departmental policies.
25% Plans, organizes, and administers custodial personnel management functions, including recruitment, scheduling, training, performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, and professional development. Establishes and enforces work priorities and ensures adherence to University and Civil Service policies.
15% Manages custodial supplies, equipment, and budget, including inventory control, purchasing recommendations, and preventive maintenance for custodial machinery and materials. Coordinates with vendors and procurement on contracts for cleaning supplies, waste management, and post-event cleanup.
10% Collaborates with Athletic Operations leadership to coordinate custodial and facility readiness for athletic events, special projects, and emergencies. Works closely with facility management, event staff, and maintenance personnel to ensure seamless preparation and execution of athletic events and day-to-day operations.
5% Advances and supports LSU and Athletics Department initiatives through personal participation in educational and developmental opportunities, as well as participation in the creation of a respectful culture consistent with the values of LSU and its Athletics Department; Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Three years of experience in custodial, housekeeping, groundskeeping, or food service work.

SPECIAL OR PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Capable of moving about in a 58,000 sq. ft. bldg. multiple times daily to clean and prepare locker rooms, office space, training rooms, spectator seating and exterior sidewalks, playing surfaces and common area. Able to stand for extended periods during cleaning processes. Must also be capable to stoop, kneel, and crouch to pick up litter, retrieve equipment, and clean restrooms, offices, lobbies, and maintain floors; Should be capable of moving furniture that weighs 20 to 40 lbs. Will use arms/hands to operate floor/power equipment used in preparing and maintaining floors. Will work with and be exposed to common cleaning products; Ability to work extended days, weekends and holidays; In accordance with University PS 18, this position is considered essential and may be required to report or stay on campus in the event of an emergency or closure; Due to the position's physical requirements, a pre-employment physical examination will be required.
A permanent or probationary internal employee who is appointed to another position following certification from an open competitive eligible list is considered a new employee in the new position and shall serve a probationary period of six months.
