The Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences at Louisiana State University is searching for an Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Veterinary Pharmacology. This position will be tenure track.
Job Responsibilities:
50% Clinical Service:
Undertake rounds of hospitalized patients, advising on therapeutic choices and issues of antimicrobial stewardship in collaboration with the attending clinicians.
Participate and collaborate with investigators associated with LSU Vet Med’s pharmacology and toxicology research programs within the Center for Clinical Innovation.
Assist graduate students and faculty with protocol preparation, sample processing, data collection and
interpretation for pharmacological investigations (evaluation of drug safety, interactions, efficacy).
Function as a liaison between pharmaceutical companies and VTH clinicians regarding incorporation of novel medications and their appropriate use within the VTH environment.
25% Research:
Establish an independent, extramurally funded research program in Veterinary Pharmacology, utilizing equipment available within the Center for Clinical Innovation.
Opportunities exist to collaborate with faculty and graduate students from three departments and multiple research centers within LSU Vet Med or the wider LSU community.
15% Teaching:
Provide instruction in Pharmacology and Toxicology lectures and laboratories across all years of the curriculum and graduate programs.
Mentor DVM and graduate students. Assist with other didactic and tutorial instructional programs of the school as needed.
Graduate/Resident Training: Develop the American College of Veterinary Clinical Pharmacology (ACVCP) training program within LSU.
Identify and initiate programmatic requirements related to research, educational material and service.
10% Service:
Participate in section, department, college and school-wide committees, assuming senior roles.
Foster relationships with clinical and basic science faculty to assist with design, implementation and management of antibiotic stewardship program, hospital based clinical trials, and providing guidance to clinicians regarding potential novel therapeutic options.
Minimum Qualifications:
DVM or Equivalent.
(Assist. Prof.) Must be eligible for board certification by the American College of Veterinary Clinical Pharmacology.
(Assoc. Prof.) 5 years of related research/teaching/clinical experience & must have board certification by the American College of Veterinary Clinical Pharmacology.
(Full Prof.) 8 years of experience and must be board certified by the American College of Veterinary Clinical Pharmacology.
Minimum Certifications/Licenses: Eligible to obtain a faculty license for the State of Louisiana.
Preferred Qualifications:
Ph.D and >8 years of experience.
Be a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Clinical Pharmacology (ACVCP).
