About this role

Job Summary: The Standardized Patient 2 is carefully trained to simulate an actual patient, including the facts of the history, physical examination findings, body language and emotional characteristics. Participates in educational activities where learners are practicing or being assessed on their clinical skills. Is provided with training materials and are required to participate in individual or group training sessions. Is trained to portray the patient case repetitively in a standardized way and contribute to the evaluation of the learner's skills.  Performs other duties as needed.

Education and Experience: Minimum one year of experience in a healthcare or education related field preferred.

Knowledge and Skills: Demonstrates good reading and writing skills as we as recall for learning case materials and recording assessments. Is able to learn basic human anatomic terminology necessary to learn and assess physical examination skills. Has basic computer skills to access and utilize web-based educational program used by the center. Is able to portray a person other than him/herself accurately in a standardized manner. Answers personal health screening questions and undergoes repeated physical examinations as needed for the patient case and tolerates appropriate touching and visual inspection (including breast, pelvic and genitourinary exams only for select SPs). Wears hospital gown with only undergarments underneath. Is observed and/or video-recorded for training and educational activities. Is reliable and punctual. Is able to provide feedback to learners and colleagues in a constructive manner. Has good vision, hearing, fine motor skills, and sense of touch/pressure.
