About this role

Job Summary: A Lock Desk Analyst manages the mortgage rate lock pipeline, ensuring accurate interest rate commitments, investor pricing, and policy compliance. Key duties include processing rate lock requests, extensions, and changes, while reconciling daily locks to mitigate financial risk. This role demands high proficiency in Loan Origination Systems (LOS), Excel, and strong attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.  Full-time, remote or in Austin office, nonexempt, Mon-Fri 9:30-6:30 CT, reports to Secondary Marketing Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Pipeline Management: Review and process incoming rate lock requests, ensuring accuracy in the Loan Origination System (Byte) and Product & Pricing Engines (PPE).
  • Rate Lock Administration: Execute, extend, modify, and cancel rate locks while adhering to company and investor guidelines.
  • Investor Coordination: Confirm loan pricing and eligibility, ensuring that locked loans are properly registered with secondary market investors.
  • Risk Mitigation & Compliance: Monitor market movements to adjust rate sheets, identify, and escalate risks related to lock expiration and pipeline fallout.
  • Communication: Act as the primary contact for loan officers, processors, and underwriters regarding rate inquiries and lock status.
  • Reporting: Perform daily reconciliations and generate reports for management regarding lock desk performance. 

Requirements

  • Minimum 1–3+ years in the mortgage industry, preferably in secondary marketing or a similar analytical role. 
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and Adobe Acrobat, navigating the internet, and generally tech savvy.
  • Knowledge of Optimal Blue required and experience with Byte LOS is preferred.
  • Demonstrated track record of effective, proactive, and precise verbal and written communication.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow checklists and procedures and produce accurate work.
  • Detail oriented, organized, and able to prioritize, multi-task, manage time, problem solve, and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze data to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies in pricing or loan data.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Good judgment and the ability to handle confidential information.

  • Strong communication, time management, and the ability to work under tight deadlines.
