Setup Technician – Die Casting
Job Summary
Under general supervision, responsible for the set-up and operation of production Cell used in production processes. Work from verbal or written instructions, diagrams, or models. Inspect machining operations and finished product against specified tolerances using precision measuring tools. Shift between activities as production demands, determine and correct more complex machine malfunctions. Perform routine maintenance and cleaning.
Responsibility
Responsible for maintaining production documents such as error check list and 5min check
Shows understanding of all Quality process controls and documentation.
Has the ability to use all the equipment safely and correctly.
Execution of all functions of the die Casting Cell
Responsible for the quality of the parts from the Die Casting Cell.
Starting up of the high-pressure die-casting machines.
Responsible for quality checks and the documentation of information as required.
Responsible for daily documentation in shift log of the I+R
Collaborate and work within continuous improvement teams on plant projects.
Able to detect casting errors visually.
Analyze “out of tolerance” conditions and make adjustments.
Work to continuously improve all areas of productivity and reduce scrap.
Assist other team members with troubleshooting and machine operations as needed and work in a team environment.
Read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
Promote positive employee and company culture.
Submit and implement lean and safety suggestions.
Set up, operate, and coordinate operation of various production equipment.
Interpret blueprints and understand all features of a finished product.
Interpret machine operations, gages, and functions to insure proper machine operation.
Interact with all departments to seek clarification on unclear drawings or job instructions and to seek help when problems arise. Interact with co-workers, including mechanics, and machinists to relay new information and safety precautions, to receive instructions or to instruct others how to perform new jobs.
Understand when machine adjustments are needed or required and know the proper steps to take to improve the quality of product.
Academic/Educational Requirements
High School Graduate or equivalent.
Required Skills/Experience
Two to Four years of Manufacturing experience a plus.
High Pressure Die Casting a plus.
Ability to work independently when needed.
Must be a team player and work with the team which includes mechanics, machinists, fellow operators and management to ensure that machines are used efficiently, and work priorities are well managed.
Ability to learn new specifications and procedures through on-the-job training and experience.
Ability to effectively communicate in both oral and written forms to various levels within the organization.
