About this role

Quality Inspector – Level 3

The Quality Inspector – Level 3 position, under general supervision, is responsible for inspecting products and performing quality audits and test and sample raw materials and incoming products to ensure compliance with company standards. Primarily accountable for approving products for distribution and initiating corrective action for procedural, product, or process deficiencies.

Performance Expectations

· Assist in the general operation and demands of the Quality Department.

· Schedule or assign inspection duties.

· Able to perform first off inspections, part layouts, receiving inspection, in process inspection, final audits, LPA, and gauge repeatability studies.

· Able to complete the necessary forms and paperwork.

· Ability to make informed decisions in situations of uncertainty.

· Issue Nonconforming Material Tags. 

· Understand TS processes including nonconforming material, identification, and inspection processes.

· Adhere to all H&S and environmental laws and procedures.

· Train inspection personnel.

· Operate CMM and have basic CMM programming skills.

· Analyze cost and quality standards and carry out statistical quality control.

· Use computer applications to monitor quality

CWB Weld Inspector Level 1 preferred

Credentials

· High School Diploma or equivalent general education.

· Post-Secondary courses in related subjects, considered an asset.

· Minimum five years of previous related experience.

· Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and blueprints.

· Able to use measuring equipment effectively, micrometers, verniers, height and bore gauges, may measure or weigh products.

· Ability to resolve conflicts and determine reasons for errors in products. 

· Use technical skills and knowledge to identify cause of problems.

· Ability to perform PPAP layouts.

· Knowledge and understanding of CMM programming and TS-16949. 

· Capable of interpreting and writing programs. 

· Working knowledge of various software programs such as Word and Excel.

· Ability to think outside the box to make continuous improvement recommendations to quality management.

· Demonstrate communication skills by interacting with supervisors and co-workers exchanging information and monitoring progress.

· Ability to work independently, coordinating jobs with work of others (i.e. operators, supervisors) as needed.

· Maintain continuous learning in order to keep up with new developments in field through various educational initiatives.
