About our Work Connected Recovery Program and Clinic   

The clinical team at Kentville are passionate about enriching the health of their clients through a holistic approach, as the Occupational Therapist working in the Work Connected Recovery Program you will primarily create tailored rehabilitation plans, recommend job or home modifications, and assist with return-to-work planning.  

Our clinic is in the Annapolis Valley with stunning landscapes and is home to many outdoor recreation facilities and trails, with a charming downtown area and great wineries, Kentville could be the place for you.

Your impact

Our OTs provide both individual and program-based treatments and assessments for individuals recovering from motor vehicle accidents and workplace injuries. They also play a pivotal role supporting individuals facing physical, cognitive and mental wellness goals.  

In this role, you will:   

• Evaluate the worker's physical, cognitive, and psychological functions, as well as job demands and workplace environment
• Create tailored, graded return-to-work plans with specific, measurable goals (SMART goals) that gradually increase activity and build tolerance.
• Perform clinical evaluations,provide exercises, functional tasks, and cognitive strategies (e.g., pacing, energy conservation) to address injury-related deficits.
• Identification ofappropriate equipmentneeds with initiation of recommendations
• Teach techniques like mindfulness, relaxation, and sleep hygiene to manage pain, fatigue, and emotional distress.
• Provide educationto theclientand employer about the recovery process, the benefits of staying connected to work, and their roles in the plan. 
• Work with employers toidentifysuitable modified duties, adapt the work environment, andmonitorprogress
• Record assessment and treatment interventions in the client's chart 
• Excel in a collaborative, inter-disciplinary team environment
• Exhibit sound professional judgment

Are you the right fit?

As one of the largest networks of OTs in the nation, you will work within a supportive, multidisciplinary environment, delivering high-quality, client-centered care across multiple clinics, or specific clinic and community settings.  Key skills and qualifications include:

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
• Knowledge of current Occupational Therapy standards, modalities and scope of practice; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Registered and in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists in your province.
• 1-3 years of experience as an Occupational Therapist is preferred
• Newly Licensed Graduates are accepted
• Valid Driver's License and reliable vehicle may be required
• In some cases, Valid Vulnerable Sector screening check 
• In some cases, Proof of Tuberculin (2-Step Mantoux Test) clearance (within 6 months)

Other Requirements: 

• Clinical experience is an asset in areas such as brain injury/neurological rehabilitation, mental health, musculoskeletal/orthopedic injury, home safety, ergonomics and/or return to work.
• Passion for your profession and commitment to ongoing professional development
• Superior interpersonal relations, communication, problem-solving, time management, computer and documentation skills 
• Proficiency in computer skills
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of a multidisciplinary team 
• Proficiency in computer skills. 
• Bilingualism - French and English are assets.
