This position provides essential substitute support for special education teachers in an online environment, ensuring students continue to receive high‑quality, individualized instruction during teacher absences. In addition, this role offers a hybrid work arrangement, with in‑person responsibilities determined by program needs.

How You Will Make an Impact
The Substitute Teacher will teach students in a personalized learning environment. This position will collaborate with other Teachers on student progress. This position reports to the Principal or Designee.

Meet with student and teach assigned educational coursework.
Review student work samples.
Review student files.
Record student progress in the Student Information System.
Notify School Administrator of student concerns or discrepancies in coursework assigned.
Adhere to Independent Student Program guidelines.
Report student’s progress to Supervising Teacher.
Perform administrative duties, responsibilities, and activities as assigned. These may be changed or modified from time to time.
QualificationsKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
Knowledge of high school credits, graduation requirements, interventions, and alternative educational programs, including independent study.
Ability to differentiate instruction to meet diverse student learning needs.
Ability to work effectively with students, parents, staff members, and community representatives in providing a rigorous educational program.
Ability to work effectively with all racial, ethnic, linguistic, disability, and socioeconomic groups.
Ability to communicate effectively, including giving clear and concise instructions, using academic language, an appropriate delivery level, listening without bias, and providing proper feedback/reinforcement.
Ability to make independent judgments, meet deadlines and maintain accurate records.
Self-sufficient, strong interpersonal skills, and focused on excellent customer service.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Valid California Substitute Teaching Permit or teaching authorization or
For Prospective Teacher:
Completion of 90 semester units of coursework from a regionally accredited four-year college or university and
Enrollment in a regionally accredited four-year California college or university and
Meet the basic skills requirement (BSR)
Ability to travel in the performance of job duties are required.
Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull objects weighing up to 10 pounds.
Skilled in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Education and Student Information Systems.
English Learner Authorization required
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Mental Demands: medium workflow management, medium project coordination, and high people engagement.
Finger Dexterity: primarily using the fingers to make small movements such as typing, picking up small objects, or pinching fingers together.
Talking: especially where one must convey detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly.
Average Hearing: hearing average or typical conversations and receiving ordinary information.
Average Visual Abilities: normal acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents and operate office equipment or machinery.
Frequent multi-tasking, changing of task priorities, repetitious exacting work required.
Prolonged period sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Working in a low to moderate noise environment with frequent deadline pressures.
