About this role

The Work Study position in the Cinematic Arts Department supports the processes of our equipment facility, which our students use for film projects. The student hired in this position would assist with equipment maintenance—cleaning, organizing, inventorying—as well as equipment checkout—barcoding, assessment, etc. Some of these tasks involve computer-based functions. Cleaning and organization of the facility will be needed regularly, too. Miscellaneous tasks may be assigned as necessary for the completion of team projects.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

1. Assist with inventory and upkeep of equipment stored in the Cinematic Arts Equipment Warehouse.

2. Check out equipment on a regular basis for Cinematic Arts student projects.

3. Perform inspections/evaluations upon equipment returns.

4. Maintain a clean working environment – cleaning floors, work stations/desks, sweeping, mopping, and organizing.

5. Assist with software and firmware updates for applicable equipment.

6. Perform inventory tasks using Microsoft Office to track equipment repair and maintenance.

7. Assist Equipment Manager and Equipment Inventory Specialist with various tasks where needed.

Qualifications, Credentials, and Competencies

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Current LU student.

2. Reliability in completing tasks, fulfilling responsibilities, and fulfilling expected hours of work.

3. A friendly demeanor, a helpful spirit, and a willingness to learn.

4. The ability to work independently as well as in a team.

5. Cursory knowledge base of camera, audio, and/or lighting equipment.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Industry experience working with camera, audio and/or lighting equipment.
