About this role

The Campus Rec Student Worker is responsible for performing operational tasks for Campus Recreation programs and facilities. They will provide excellent customer service, maintain facility and asset cleanliness, ensure that all policies are followed by guests and participants, and ensure all safety measures are being implemented.

JOB SUMMARY 

The Media Student Worker position is responsible for assisting in the execution of social media initiatives, promotional tables, social media event coverage, and other marketing initiatives. The Media Student Worker must have strong leadership skills, be able to utilize critical thinking, and have experience in the Marketing field. 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Assist in promotional tables or events to provide a well-rounded promotion of Campus Recreation events or facilities. 
  • Assist with distributing all marketing print materials and screen slides to Campus Recreation facilities on a weekly basis. 
  • Assists with adherence to the Campus Recreation style guide, ensuring compliance with University policies. 
  • Assist with management and organization of Campus Recreation social accounts, such as Facebook, Instagram, and X, through content planning, creation, and posting as directed by the Media Coordinator.  
  • Assist with recruitment events like ExperienceLU, College for a Weekend, and DecideLU 
  • Responsible for helping maintain organization in supply closet and keeping inventory. 
  • Assist development and implementation of marketing plans, concepts, and strategies. 
  • Frequently assist with events and/or operations during evening, nights or weekend hours. 
  • Work in a team environment with designers, photographers, and videographers. 
  • Attend all required Campus Recreation trainings and meetings. 
  • Perform all other tasks assigned by the Media Coordinator or Associate Director of Marketing to assist with Campus Recreation operations and programming.   
  • Works effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering LU's mission.

QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS 

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Must be a current Liberty University student 

  • Ability to work up to 20 hours per week 

  • Experience with social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, X) 

  • Availability to work a variety of different shifts (weekends, early morning, afternoon, late night, etc.) 

  • Ability to work within a brand and respond positively to constructive criticism 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Majoring in Digital Media, Communications, or related field 

  • Experience and strong knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Lightroom) 

  • Experience with photography, videography, or video editing

  • Ability to communicate effectively to convey clear, well-articulated information. 

  • Ability to understand, speak, and write English in order to convey messages and correspond in an articulate and professional manner. 

  • Possess public communication skills that allow professional representation of Liberty University. 

  • Strong organizational skills. 

  • Excellent computer skills. 

Problem Solving 

  • Intuitively able to reason, analyze information and events, and apply judgment in order to solve problems of both a routine and complex nature. 

Physical and Sensory Abilities 

  • Frequently required to sit for extended periods to perform deskwork or type on a keyboard.   

  • Regularly required to hear and speak in order to effectively communicate orally. 

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, and climb stairs to move about the building. 

  • Handle materials, reach overhead, kneel or stoop in order to conduct business. 

  • Regularly lift 40 or fewer pounds.  

 

WORKING CONDITIONS 

Work Environment 

The working environment in which one will typically perform the essential functions of this position is split between a climate-controlled office setting and outdoor facilities. Both areas are well lit, and the noise level is moderate.  

 

Driving Requirements 

Occasional use of one’s personal vehicle is required for travel in the performance of the essential functions of this position.
