About this role

Assist with a variety of Broadcast tasks. Responsibilities will vary based on area of support, such as video production, engineering, and event production. Tasks require meticulous attention to detail, and adherence to safety measures. The ability to recognize and maintain quality control is vital.

This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in Broadcast and help bring exciting productions to life on Liberty’s campus.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Willing to work with various Broadcast departments on a variety of projects.
  • Ability to precisely follow direction.
  • Handle multiple tasks and projects under tight deadlines.
  • Coordinate with a variety of staff and managers.
  • Office work as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Strictly adheres to Liberty University policies, representing the University in an exemplary manner.
  • Works effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering LU’s Christian model and Mission – Training Champions for Christ.

Athletic Creative Team Student Worker

  • Some proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite applications, specifically Photoshop and Lightroom.
  • Work as a member of the Athletic Creative Team to ensure that the creative needs of Liberty Athletics are met.
  • Demonstrate competency with social media platforms (Twitter, Instagram, etc.).
  • Understanding of athletics and how to use video and photo content to tell a story.
  • Photography and/or videography experience preferred.
  • Effective communicator both verbally and written.
  • Demonstrate the ability to handle multiple tasks and projects under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends.
  • Ability to travel if needed.

Campus Production Student Worker

  • Proficiency with software programs such as, but not limited to, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe Photoshop, ProVideoPlayer, and ProPresenter.
  • Stay focused in stressful situations.
  • Discern and communicate equipment and personnel needs to technicians for automated and staffed university events.
  • Knowledge of the basic principles of sound reinforcement, stage lighting, live video production, signal flow, electricity, and computer systems.
  • Support the spiritual enrichment of others by maintaining a focus on ministry in the workplace.
  • Eagerness to learn to troubleshoot equipment issues that may arise.
  • Quickly adapt to developing work situations due to the dynamic nature of live events.

The Journey Student Worker

  • Coordinate with a variety of staff and managers.
  • Record, edit, and produce station promos, PSAs, and imaging.
  • Gather audio for morning show (interviews, listener comments, etc.).
  • Assist Promotions Coordinator with inventory and packaging promotional items.
  • Assist with creation of social media content.
  • Assist with event support to help the station engage listeners.

QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS

Education and Experience

  • Current Liberty University student.

Communication and Comprehension

  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing to convey clear, well articulated information.
  • Ability to understand, speak, and write in English in order to convey messages and correspond in an articulate and professional manner.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Basic computer skills.

Problem Solving

  • Intuitively able to reason, analyze information and events, and apply judgment in order to solve problems of both a routine and complex nature.

Physical and Sensory Abilities

  • May be required to sit to perform deskwork or type on a keyboard.
  • Must possess remarkable auditory skills to accurately detect and interpret various sounds—such as pitch, tone, clarity, and spatial cues—to identify technical audio problems, maintain creative content quality, and communicate clearly with team members in fast-paced broadcast settings.
  • Must possess exceptional visual acuity, including the ability to see fine details and accurately distinguish colors, in order to identify visual defects, maintain the creative and technical quality of video content, and carry out precise tasks such as equipment installation, signal monitoring, and system calibration.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, and climb stairs to move about the campus.
  • Handle materials, reach overhead, kneel or stoop in order to conduct business.
  • Regularly lift 10 or fewer pounds.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work Environment

The working environment in which one will typically perform the essential functions of this position will frequently change. Work environments will vary from a climate-controlled event space to outdoor campus environments. Noise levels at campus events can be moderate to loud.
