About this role
Liberty FCU, a full-service credit union, is currently seeking an Accounting Specialist which will be located at our Main Office at 4401 Theater Drive, Evansville, IN 47716. Applicants should have some accounting knowledge through completed educational courses taken or job experience. Basic knowledge of Excel is required, and advanced knowledge is preferred. The successful candidate must demonstrate superior organizational, technical and time management skills as well as be detail oriented. Candidates must be available to work Saturdays on a rotating basis. If interested, please proceed by clicking apply.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Journal entries: Prepare, post and verify journal entries for various general ledgers.
- Reconciliations: Perform daily, weekly or monthly reconciliations of various balance sheet accounts to identify and resolve descrepancies.
- Closing Procedures: Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities, ensuring all transactions are finalized and reflected in the general ledgers.
- Tax and Compliance: Assist with property tax and other regulatory reporting.
- Support: Provide support within the department by backing up various job duties.
- System: Develop a working knowledge of the credit union's DNA system and FAS accounting system as it applies to your specific job duties.

- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
