Role Profile

Position: Counter Technician

Job Location: West Valley City, UT

Job Type: Full-Time

Status: Non-Exempt

Summary of the Role  

The function of the Counter Technician is to provide direct support to the Branch operations to ensure over the counter orders are completed. This position also ensures the ongoing development of existing and prospective customers to ensure that the Branch is able to meet its growth targets.    

Responsibilities  

  • Must maintain 100% commitment to safety policies and procedures  

  • Quotes customers using working knowledge of product both in-person through retail sales, and via phone or email  

  • Builds, tests, and inspects industrial hose assemblies in response to identified customer applications and needs  

  • Provides technical/service support to account management, service center management and internal and external customers  

  • Processes incoming inquiries to company sales system  

  • Successfully achieves budgeted Branch sales goals  

  • Monitors on-time delivery date commitments and expedites where appropriate  

  • Monitors customer specific inventory for sales order fulfillment  

  • Makes outbound calls to potential and existing customers for new and sales growth opportunities  

  • Builds and maintains strong internal and external relationships  

  • Perform other duties as trained and qualified for 

Skills and Abilities  

  • Possess excellent customer service skills  

  • Ability to interact with customers and team-members in a professional manner  

  • Ability to work independently and prioritize responsibilities  

  • Must have excellent communication skills, both oral and written  

  • Requires a proficiency in math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division in units of measure   

  • Must be able to perform calculations using whole numbers, fractions and decimals.  

  • Basic computer skills including MS Word, Excel, internet and email  

  • Must be able to successfully utilize the company software  

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Must be 18 years of age or older  

  • 1-3 years of related warehousing, construction or production experience  

  • A high school diploma or GED  

  • Reliable transportation is a must  

  • Ability to work nights and weekends, as required  

  • Ability to work overtime, as required  

  • Background checks and drug screening may be required (by Company, Customer or DOT requirements in working on-site and operating equipment as required or permitted by law)

  • Industrial setting experience 

Physical Requirements and Work Environment 

This position is primarily based in an industrial store and warehouse environment. The warehouse environment may include fluctuating temperatures (both hot and cold), varying noise levels, exposure to dust, and other typical elements of an active industrial environment. Reasonable accommodations are available to support individuals with disabilities in performing the essential functions of this role. 

  • Ability to work in a stationary position for extended periods of time. 

  • Frequent operation of a computer, keyboard, mouse, and other standard office equipment. 

  • Ability to pull, push, grasp, bend, lift, and carry up to 50 lbs independently on a repeated basis. Heavier items may be moved with team assistance or mechanical aid. 

  • Ability to move freely throughout the job site, including on occasional uneven surfaces, for extended periods of time. 

  • Ability to comprehend and follow instructions and safety procedures. 

  • Ability to read, write and communicate in English 

  • Ability to comprehend documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, inventory sheets, and procedure manuals. 

  • Ability to respond to safety signals, alarms, and verbal instructions. 

  • Ability to work in varying environmental conditions, including exposure to temperature changes, dust, and warehouse noise. 

  • Ability to count, measure, and record data accurately. 

  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), such as gloves, safety glasses, steel-toed footwear, hearing protection, or hard hats when required.
