This position goes beyond enforcement and focuses on building positive relationships with students, staff, and families while supporting school policies, procedures, and daily operations. The officer serves as both a safety professional and a trusted presence on campus. Key Responsibilities Maintain a safe and secure school environment during the instructional day and school-sponsored events Build positive, respectful relationships with students through consistent presence and appropriate engagement Support and enforce school policies and procedures in alignment with district guidelines and state law Respond promptly to safety concerns, incidents, and emergencies using appropriate de-escalation strategies Collaborate with school administrators, counselors, and staff to support student well-being and campus safety Monitor campus activity, including arrival, dismissal, lunch periods, and transitions between classes Conduct routine patrols of school buildings and grounds Assist with incident documentation, reporting, and follow-up as required Serve as a role model for professionalism, respect, and responsible decision-making Participate in safety planning, drills, and prevention initiatives Support restorative and educational approaches to student behavior when appropriate Qualifications  Current certification and eligibility to serve as a police officer in the state Commitment to a student-centered, community-focused approach to policing Ability to build trust and maintain positive relationships with adolescents
