
The Digital Modernization Sector at Leidos is seeking a Tier II Network Technician to support various WAN and LAN networks. Will provide incident resolution, routing changes, firewall changes; act as subject matter expert in WAN and LAN technologies; support intra- and inter- net and other data communications systems or segments of networked system.
The job duties of the Tier II Network Technician are as follows:
The Tier 2 network field technician will support the installation and maintenance of the client LAN/WAN devices.
Respond to and resolve incident tickets
Draft and implement standard network change requests
Provide support to Tier III network engineers for incident management and projects (site surveys, Technical Exchange Meetings (TEMs), and coordinate and install new equipment)
Perform configuration management functions such as update topology drawings, ensure asset management records are accurate, and conduct inventory
Coordinate network operations, maintenance, repairs, or upgrades.
Configure and troubleshoot layer 2 switching (Virtual Local Area Networks (VLANs), Port Security, and Thin Configurations)
Perform COMSEC custodian duties, ensuring the proper handling, storage, and safeguarding of cryptographic materials in compliance with U.S. Government Polices.
Maintain accountability and inventory control of COMSEC equipment, keying material, and related documentation.
Support the installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of encryption devices, including TACLANEs and other secure communication equipment.
Support network security operations, ensuring COMSEC integration aligns with overall cybersecurity requirements.
Requirements
TS SCI with Poly
Candidate must have 8 years of experience that can be a combination of work history and education. This equates to a master’s and 2 years, bachelor’s and 4 years, associates and 6 years, or HS diploma and 8 years.
Compliance with Department of Defense (DoD) 8570 Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level 2.
Working knowledge of basic routing fundamentals
Working knowledge of layer 2 switching concepts
Knowledge of CISCO/Juniper Return Material Authorization (RMA) processes
Layer 1 and Layer 2 network experience (CAT5, Single Mode (SM)/Multimode (MM) Fiber, Serial cables, Small Form-factor Pluggable (SFP)
Knowledge of Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) models
Knowledge of Cisco Internetworking Operating System (IOS), Juniper JUNOS, and the Brocade and Foundry Operating System (OS)
Familiarity (doesn’t need to be a SME) with Layer 3 protocols such as Open Shortest Path First (OSPF), Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol (VRRP), Hot Standby Router Protocol (HSRP), Multiprotocol label switching (MPLS), Language Server Protocol (LSP), and Generic Routing Encapsulation (GRE)
Familiarity with Microsoft Visio, ServiceNow, and Atlassian Confluence
Working knowledge of Service Now or similar IT Service Management (ITSM) products
Up to 25% travel
