
Leidos has an opening for a highly qualified Secret cleared Technical Product Prototype SME for the Command, Control & Battle Management (C2/BM) Business Area. This is an exciting opportunity to bring your experience to support across all-domain large-scale weapon systems, Information Technology Systems, and Command and Control Systems to realize the Department of Defense Joint All-Domain Command and Control (JADC2). In this role you will support an Integrated Product Team (IPT) for the Advanced Battle Management System (ABMS) Digital Infrastructure (DI) Processing Node (PN) to design and implement solutions that can be delivered at speed, scale, and with the necessary security to deliver operational advantages to the joint warfighter. ABMS is a top modernization priority for the Department of the Air Force and will be the backbone of a network-centric approach to battle management in partnership with all the services across JADC2. This position will work closely with Program Managers, other domain engineers, and Government counterparts across Government and Industry partners.
The Technical Product Prototype SME must be able to work from Richardson, TX OR be remote and travel 50% of the time
Primary responsibilities:
Creates "thin line prototypes" and evaluates technology options.
Identifies any issues around security, scalability, along with the overall solution fits within the DIPN environment.
Manages end-to-end prototype lifecycle, from conceptual design and lab setup to software configuration, troubleshooting, and final documentation.
Identifies material requirements (hardware, software, supplemental staffing, etc.) for designed solution.
Ensures finalized thin-line prototypes are validated by the appropriate teams prior to the start and end of testing.
Required Qualifications :
BS degree and 12 – 15 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 10 – 13 years of prior relevant experience. May possess a Doctorate in technical domain.
Active Secret security clearance, with ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance.
Must be able and willing to work from Richardson, TX OR have the ability to travel 50% of the time.
Strong written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with customer representatives, domain experts, and other systems engineers in the development of complex DoD systems.
DoD 8570 Level 2 certification.
Systems of Systems Integration experience (from a design/architecture perspective).
Senior level technical consulting experience including experience interfacing with both internal and external stakeholders.
Extensive experience designing detailed full-stack platform solutions including trade studies, cost, schedule, and technical aspects.
Curious self-starter that can excel in a prototyping environment to turn customer needs into executable solution candidates. Must be able to consider cost, schedule, technology, and risks.
Familiarity with technologies that are appropriate for deployable open systems infrastructures, including most of the following:
MOSA approaches
CI/CD
Commercial cloud (specifically AWS and Azure), hybrid cloud, edge cloud architectures
LINUX-based systems
Microsoft echo system including Azure and Azure Stack
Microservices/Containerization/Kubernetes & service mesh/routing
Modern network technologies (SDWAN, Leaf/Spine, WIFI, MANet/ROIP, SatComm, Starlink)
CSfC Encryption
Cross-Domain solutions
Modern authorization / ICAM / Zero-Trust architectures
Data management/synchronization
DDIL and tactical system development
Familiarity with operational US military systems deployed into the tactical echelon, including specific familiarity with:
Tactical and strategic/back-haul voice and data communications, including Tactical Data Links
Sensor integration
Military Commercial cloud integration
Broad experience developing automated deployment and testing of complex systems using Ansible, Terraform, Docker, Rancher Kubernetes.
People leadership experience; including mentoring, coaching, and building high performing Engineering teams.

Experience with SAFe agile processes.
Prior military or hands-on experience with tactical military IT systems in production use (e.g., exercises).
Familiarity with USAF operational and tactical CONOPS.
Cameo or MagicGrid-based MBSE modelling.
